It's over 2 weeks now since a rise in cases in Florida, we should have already seen a matching rise in the number of deaths. The virus is less infectious in summer (rise in cases is linear, not exponential) and the virus is also less deadlier in the heat of a Florida summer combined with the the virus being less deadlier as the number of different strains increases over time. I'm sure some of you have noticed the left wing media has shifted recently to focusing on the number of cases instead of the number of deaths

With Hospitalizations on the rise, let’s see those numbers again in 2-3 weeks

Once again, I suspect you’re jumping the gun, and sticking your foot in your mouth

I think though that you wouldn't look to see the death date at the same time as the reported case.*

I don't know if that's what you meant. The graph seems to compare new cases versus deaths in the same day. So I guess what I'm saying is we might be able to find deaths maybe a month into the spike in cases.

You're saying it's less virulent in Florida heat? Hmm. I did hear on the radio a disc jockey saying that sunlight kills coronavirus.

You said a similar thing a month ago with the George Floyd protests and several months ago with Sweden

14 days is the median length of time between infection and death across all age ranges, only 11 days for over 70 year olds. Should have already seen a matching spike in the number of deaths

    That answers my question.

Well, perhaps it's less virulent in Florida.

    Show some patience.

This new coronavirus is insidious if nothing else, and it's not going to simply go away or give up its dead.

We are 7 months into this thing, and you are really asking me how long it takes to kill people?

Is that intentional? Or did you really not know before?

Median isn't the same as average, but roughly half the people that will die from it die 2 weeks after getting infected, and it takes them 4,5 days to show symptoms and return a positive test result, so there is only a 9 day lag between tests rising and it (in this case not) being reflected in the number of deaths

Yeah, I'm guessing what you really mean is you are going to wait till November 4th before you stop doing the Sargent Shultz thing

Internet is blocking me to read the page 370 of this discussion because some info is not verified, when I reach the middle of the page, hop, no more forum, but a warning!

That's not happening for me... I just checked. I didn't see anything that should trigger an anti-virus either.

June 27, 2020 - Florida Again Sets Daily Record for New Coronavirus Cases With More Than 9,500

June 27, 2020 - Austin Tx - When Donald Trump welcomed Texas governor Greg Abbott to the White House in May, the US president hailed his fellow Republican as “one of the great governors” and lauded the state’s response to the coronavirus pandemic and predicted boom times ahead.

“When you look at the job he’s done in Texas, I rely on his judgment,” Trump said.

Seven weeks later, as the state once again closes businesses with virus cases skyrocketing and hospitals running out of intensive-care beds.

Texas indeed appears to be a model: for how to squander a hopeful position through premature reopening, ignoring inconvenient data and fighting party-political turf wars.

Went to Starbucks... The thing that stood out to me was the number of people seated at tables outside the restaurant not wearing masks... like 30 of them.

It's been at least a week here in Massachusetts that I haven't seen anyone not wearing a mask, even joggers and bicyclists

Yeah, but wouldn't it be difficult to drink coffee while wearing a mask?

    Just sayin'

I suspect that actually is part of the reason.

My honest feeling is that they should avoid that congregating behavior until the all-clear is given by CDC or WHO or something, but it doesn't look like that will happen in any orderly way.

    Happy 1/2 Million deaths everyone

1/2 million deaths, and 10 million cases world wide on the same day

Meh, a bit of dark humour, why not
