Ok, here we are in July 2020, we have Fauci saying stuff like Covid-19 could be as bad as the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic (that's the one that killed 50 million people) and that we won't have to worry about Covid in 12-18 months if we get a vaccine that's 70-75% effective (Influenza vaccine is 20% effective for over 65s)

Dude, use your brain, before covid they normally run at 90% capacity, why would they spend money maintaining empty beds under normal operations. The fact that they are at that same capacity now doesnt mean anything

We have heard this story a half a dozen times at least across the world in the last 6 months, oh, we better build a field hospital thanks mainly to a bunch of government officials that don't manage hospitals

Start of April, NY hit 10,000 cases a day, 5 days later, over 1000 deaths a day

This month Texas hits same figures, 10,000 cases a day, but 5 days later only 150 deaths a day

Why, because its Summer, peoples immune responses are slightly better in summer, and maybe there are some less deadly strains running around....and there are less people getting put on ventilators when they shouldn't be and dying as a result

Those are the three main reasons for such a huge difference in the death rate

Population density has nothing to do with it once they get infected. The state of Texas actually has 50% more people in it than New York. 30 million in Texas, 20 million in NY state. So not only does Texas have more hospitals and beds, they'd have a higher percentage of otherwise redundant ICU beds because its summer

NY never used its field hospital

Texas has 85% less deaths a day than NY did for the same number of cases

...and you are telling me Texas needs a field hospital??

Which is a round about way of saying, summer, warmer weather can't possibly have anything to do with it

So you can't even bring yourself to even remotely entertain the idea warmer weather might have something to do with the lower death rate, because it might sound in part you are agreeing Trump was half right

American doctors did do better than Italian doctors, but that alone isn't going to account for an 85% drop on the death rate

 

A lot of people mention "warmer weather" when it's getting on towards spring... They do this every fucking year, and most of the time they are surprisingly correct...

So this somehow makes Trump a stable genius, does it

 

Also on the moving data management over to the HHS thing. Despite you or anyones else's feelings on President Trump, it makes a whole lot more sense having the HHS, the ones actually managing your health services manage that data than the CDC

That is the situation in almost every other country

Trump will take credit for it. But who actually made the decision, where it actually came from we will probably never know as it will be buried under a mound of bureaucracy

But many need more accurate data from the US. We need to know how many people actually died of covid. How many people ONLY died of covid.

We ain't getting that under the current system
