I'm a non-smoker for about 9 years if my memory is right. I've quit smoking two or three times; I can't remember if it was two or three. I smoked cigarettes in high school, but I guess I figured at some point that it wasn't worth it. I picked it back up - probably for looks/thinking people would like me - a few years after quitting. I sincerely can't remember the details. I don't think I'll ever smoke again. The last time I smoked a cigarette was also around my last dance with Maryjane.
Life long straight edge here, so I've never smoked anything, even though I do admit that in my youth guys like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Clint Eastwood made cigars seem slightly appealing trough the imagery in their iconic movies. But I ultimately never got into any of that, because education about the hazards of tobacco consumption was already very prevalent in my childhood days, and somehow I just took it all to my heart and believed all the warnings, where many of my peers didn't, with the result that I'm now aware of at least one smoking related throat cancer case that ended with the guys' death, and this was somebody I knew from my childhood. And another one with COPD, who now relies on an oxygen tank just to survive. I think they're not being so rebellious now, are they? People have sometimes wondered my resilience against this temptation. But aside from the obvious health stuff, after I became familiar with the tobacco industry's extremely harmful and immoral practices, like flat out lying about the health hazards just to protect their bottom line, NOT supporting the industry became pretty much a no brainer.
I tried to smoke in high school. Tasted horrible, and smelled even worse. Never understood the appeal. I've smoked maybe three or four times in my life, and it was all over 20 years ago. Not my thing.
I just don't think it's proper for the government to ban smoking. I mean, it should be up to free individuals to choose what they'll do personally and for those who are proprietors what kind of clientele to woo.
the station has a separate pressurized section for methane breathers, so that oxygen breathers don't have to wear pressure suits when not visiting them. its just because we can't physically breathe the same atmosphere. and of course it works the same the other way, methane breathers wear pressure suits when visiting the oxygen side. people evolved on different worlds breathe different atmospheres. even being on the same side of the methane oxygen divide, species evolved on different planets, can seldom breath each other's world's air.
Non Smoker I took a puff when I was 16, felt nothing really. Then my friend told me I needed to inhale...i thought I was going to die. Haven't took a puff since.
I never had the urge to smoke tobacco. My mom and wife are both nurses. It gives you cancer and ages you terribly. The relief you get from smoking it seems to only be getting a fix. You would not be half as upset if you didn't crave nicotine. I do smoke weed though so maybe I can't talk. If Willie Nelson is OK I will be OK
Lung cancer is the most common form of the disease in the world and 90 percent of all cases are caused by cigarette smoking. It kills 1.2 million people a year. About 10 to 15 percent of smokers develop lung cancer — although they often die of other smoking-related causes like heart disease, stroke or emphysema. While cigarette smoking is an undisputed cause of lung cancer, not all cases of lung cancer occur in smokers or former smokers. Each year, over 170,000 Americans develop lung cancer, and approximately ten per cent of lung cancers, or 17,000 cases, occur in non-smokers.
Interesting facts Candy, I had few family members pass do to L.C., all of whom were habitual cigarette smokers, no bueno. As per unfocused above, I wonder if there will ever be stats on 420. I’ve smoked mj just about every day since about 15. I’m only 21 now but my lungs must be in far worse shape than if I would have refrained these past 6 years. I guess only time will tell. Hopefully, I have the Willy Nelson gene.
