    This shows all the possibilities of rectification.

    !mage 1 waveform
    Image 2 half wave.
    Image 5 full wave.
    Image 6 residual ripple.
    Image 9 after capacitor smoothing.

    Both can be applied either way up, leaving numerous possibilities for your original picture.

    PS, the picture was a funny way of showing a diode half wave rectifying in both directions.
    It is used to teach the functions of semiconductors to young students.
