    The REPUBLICANS
will back reducing or eliminating everyone's safety net. Why? Because the business community wants a desperate, "I'll work for any amount of money in shitty conditions and horrible hours just so I have a job" type of workforce. Consequently, the business community and THEIR UNION - the Chamber of Commerce - backs the REPUBLICAN PARTY. The business community doesn't want working people to have a safety net - they want desperate workers to accept anything offered - pay, conditions, hours, and benefit-wise.

This is why the Democratic party has ALWAYS been the worker-friendly party, the environmentally-friendly / environmentally smarter party, etc.

I hate to break this to you soul - but it'll N-E-V-E-R be paid back. The REPUBLICAN PARTY has been trying to get rid of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid for DECADES !!! They'll fight tooth and nail to keep any of that from being paid back ........................ they want it gone altogether.

The thing I'll never wrap my head around is the fact that avg. hard-working, NON-RICH Republican folks keep voting for the people who will happily take away their retirement / old age security from them. How do they (avg. folks) think they'll be able to save & invest enough to cover all their retirement / "golden years" costs?? They aren't being paid squat NOW - how can one pay today's bills and still have enough left over to save enough to "be secure" in retirement?? Look how many are working only "part-time" and for crap pay. And more & more employers are forcing those workers to pay for their medical insurance out of their pockets .............. out of that measly pay rate.

With all those negatives against them - those same hard-working Republican folks (the NON-RICH ones) keep voting for those SAME REPUBLICAN POLITICIANS who will happily take away the additional "safety net" most people rely on to help them survive in their retirement years. Voting for the very people who will cut their retirement financial throats.

If I live to be 10 million years old .................................. I'll N-E-V-E-R understand that logic.

Now ............................. now ........................... only NOW ............. has Rump come to the "genius" conclusion that the American people ought to wear masks. Beside the mask-wearing advice, he cancelled the Republican convention in Florida because he," wants to protect the American people."

Are you shittin' me???? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This dolt had reality kick him in the balls, his poll numbers are collapsing, his handlers implored him to say what the REAL medical experts have been saying all along - wear masks when out of your house, social distance, avoid crowds. He's only 6 months late to the parade. What a pompous, callous, arrogant, self-centered ASS Rump is. His response to Covid-19 has been NO RESPONSE - just DENIALS and LIES.

Mnuchin says they're using the same metric to provide stimulus payments for the next round. Didn't they absolutely blow it with migrant workers, immigrant spouses, and adult dependents including college kids that last time??

Yes... And that's what Mnuchin means. The people that got screwed last time are going to get screwed again.

Well, he's spouting about the republicans' proposal - he must be because they haven't come to any conclusions with the democrats yet or even issued the proposal formally. That should be a non-starter for anyone.

Leaving anyone out is a blatantly greedy mistake.

I don't know his history with foreclosure. I thought he was an investment banker, but for all I know he could have advised people to invest in mortgage-backed securities. :D

I only read this one. It makes me feel gross that as a person who majored in business I rub elbows with the types of people who potentially will foreclose people out of their home in the name of a better America or some convoluted purpose that they see as idyllic. The entire indoctrination of a foreclosure culture strikes me as a bit odd, and the willingness to participate in it is even more strange, blindly obeying regulation with no question as to motive or morality. I think it's terrible, people lost their livelihoods, and it's unforgivable. How can you live with yourself after being that guy? How does one sleep at night - not only being racked with guilt but for fear that some previous homeowner will seek revenge?

I think it's awful, and this administration tries to enact just that sort of policy - the policy of removing one from their home belligerently and matter-of-factly, the sicking of the dogs on those expressing their right to assemble, freedom of expression and the first amendment, or the grotesque attempt to erect a giant wall between one country and its neighbor.

I don't really see the working and middle class giving too much of a shit about what's happening in Portland, your little mini spike with Coronavirus this month didn't really gain momentum, the left just made a whole mess of the defund the police thing, and the economic impact will start to bite in the coming months

If July is as bad as his polls get; 12 points; the same place he was with Hillary a month before 2016, meh

    Two terms; get over it

The foreclosure king is a perfect fit for the bankruptcy king's administration! Six bankruptcies between 1991 and 2009, and now he's bankrupting the entire country. Guess that's his business plan because after all, "he's a brilliant businessman." It makes me want to puke when I hear people saying that.

"The economic impact will start to bite in the coming month's: Bite Trump in his fat ass! It's the incumbent Prez who bears the brunt of a bad economy. Around here in Red State Oklahoma, the mini spike with the Coronavirus caught everyone's attention. I agree Portland might as well be in another galaxy--far, far away. Which means all of Trump's actions with the Storm troopers are for naught. The swing states will determine the outcome in the electoral college, and Trump is in trouble there.
