Looks like India will be the first country to get to herd immunity without a vaccine, now they just need to work out how to make decent smartphones

 

Many of us are sick of the slow motion calamity that is happening in the US. Although it began several years ago as the internet conspiracy nut cases lured people into hate, intolerance, and aggression, covid put everything on steriods. It would be difficult to believe that Trump and his cronies have any other objective than to have Americans get sick and die. Our experience is far worse than that of most European countries where the leaders took the necessary action early and are now in a far different place. And, the damage to our economy will be proportionately greater than Europe since the pandemic has been allowed to run riot for so long in the US. The only response of Trump is lies compounded by lies compounded by still more lies.

 

It’s the strangest thing I’ve ever seen.

If he had only seized upon the opportunity back in February and March to lead this Nation. To demand everyone wear a mask, social distance, and to self-quarantine. To offer free and immediate testing for all.
To use the full resources of the CDC and the health department, and actually listen to the science rather than deny it, he would sweep to victory in November, instead.............

I think this is more related to the economy, but I'll put it here & risk moderation... I think it's remotely related to coronavirus though. A whole bunch of people reported food insecurity recently in the U.S.

This isn't usually something that's even on my radar, but that's a lot of people who are hungry. Granted hunger in general is a travesty. Maybe it's more visible now such that more can be done about it for everyone. Likely not though. The strategy thus far had been to increase spending on programs like Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program. That will help if they continue it; though I'm not sure if all the proposals include that. I know that there's a pantry at school where I can get food if I need it. There are also programs like Food Share around here - I don't know if that's national.

Anyway speak up if you're struggling people. There are ways to keep the food coming.
