Trump was rendered defenseless at the Axios interview, a far cry from his staged softball sessions on Fox.

Trump's interview debacle sends a warning for the fall campaign

Trump's Axios interview debacle sends a warning for the fall campaign - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"It is hard to remember an interview in which a sitting President was more unsparingly exposed or seemed so unequal to the magnitude of a crisis that is threatening the American people and is nowhere near ending.

And Trump's sit-down with Swan came about a month and a half before his first presidential debate clash with presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden. His struggles offer plenty of fodder for Biden's debate prep team as they plot his strategy and train up their man for what could be the most important moment of the most unusual presidential campaign.

When Trump was fact-checked in real time, Trump's flame-throwing interview technique fizzled. When Swan frustrated his scattershot attempts to jump to another subject, Trump wilted. Under pressure, he provided the kind of offhand remark that could define a political race if properly used by an opponent.

"It is what it is," Trump said, appearing callous and disconnected about a Covid-19 death toll that has reached 150,000 Americans. When he was challenged, Trump responded with nonsensical answers, grasping for a counter to simple questions about his handling of the pandemic."

Rump talks about the numbers of dead Americans like it's a score card. He passes the dead off saying things like, "It's only 100,000. If it weren't for me - it could have been much worse." This kind of callousness from the same guy who said ON VIDEO and AUDIO TAPE TV - "It's only one person coming in from China." Then - "It's only 15 people. It'll soon be down to 1 or 2. It'll just miraculously disappear. We have it all under control." Now he says, "It is what it is."

I just can't wait until he's GONE. No more bullshit lies, no more making up "facts" out of thin air having no basis in reality, no more downpours of executive orders for no legitimate reason, no more lying enablers, and no more orange-faced, dyed-blond, incompetent, arrogant, self-centered, narcissistic, morally bankrupt, criminal, FAKE president !!!!!

Then ........................... I CAN'T WAIT for the onslaught of court cases against this mongrel of a man. My wife predicts Melania will drop him like a rock & sue for divorce. I hope she takes him for his last nickel. And then the criminal charges can begin which he avoided by being a "sitting president." No more "executive privilege." When he can't exact political revenge against people who actually KNOW what this festering pustule has done - the flood gates will be open, I suspect. Lots of people will have book deals, (which will become best-sellers), TV interviews, etc.

I can't wait for the day when the American people say his favorite phrase back TO HIM ........................... YOU'RE FIRED !!!!!! F-I-R-E-D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trump insists virus ‘will go away like things go away’ as deaths surge, economy shudders

President Trump showed no sign of admitting the magnitude of the crisis. In wide-ranging, frequently erroneous comments on “Fox & Friends” Wednesday, he claimed covid-19 was spreading in a “relatively small portion” of the country (it is spreading nearly everywhere); said children are “virtually immune” to the virus (they are not); and once again insisted the outbreak will “will go away like things go away.”

Businesses added fewer than 170,000 new jobs in July compared to some economists’ predictions of more than 1 million.

Blacks, Hispanics, and other minorities are being hit particularly hard by the coronavirus.

Trump thought that African-American businessman Herman Cain would be an ace-in-the-hole for him who could garner what little minority votes he had remaining for the 2020 election, which has a little over half the sought-after undecided votes it did in 2016. Cain dying of the coronavirus that he and Trump flouted makes Trump look particularly bad in the eyes of minorities and elderly voters. Cain was 74.

Another death like Cain happening to a prominent, pro-Trump minority personality would be another fiasco. If Trump has any sense remaining, he should refrain from inviting such people to his in-person rallies (assuming he ever has another) such as Robert Unanue, age 66 and CEO of the Hispanic Goya Foods.

Why Are Minorities Hardest Hit By COVID-19?

    excerpt:

"In New York, blacks make up 33% of COVID-19 hospitalizations. Yet black people are just 18% of the state's population, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Early data from New York City suggests that blacks are twice as likely to die from COVID-19 as whites are. The CDC also reported that, in New York City, death rates are significantly higher for Hispanics/Latinos than for whites.

Other areas hard-hit by COVID-19 have seen similar trends in deaths for black people. Louisiana's population is about one-third black, but about 70% of COVID-19 deaths occurred in blacks, according to The New York Times. In Illinois, 15% of the population is black, but 43% of those who died from COVID-19 were black. Michigan's population is about 14% black, yet black people accounted for 40% of that state's COVID-19 deaths.

The Navajo Nation has a population of less than 300,000 people in New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. ABC News reported that while Native Americans make up just 5% of New Mexico's population, they represent 20% of the state's COVID-19 cases."

Alarm at Trump's unsubstantiated claim that Beirut blast was an 'attack'
Off-the-cuff remarks not backed by US government officials
Lebanese officials reportedly seek urgent clarification

Alarm at Trump's unsubstantiated claim that Beirut blast was an 'attack'

    excerpt:

"The White House gave no guidance on Wednesday as to whether Trump had received a top secret intelligence briefing, had seen something on Twitter – or just made up the claim and imagined a conversation with US generals.

It has become the norm for US officials to quietly correct the thicket of mistakes and lies embedded in Trump’s daily discourse, but applied to a fragile and volatile corner of the world, the stakes are higher.

“I would advise against listening to Donald Trump at the best of times, let alone the worst,” Tom Fletcher, a former British ambassador to Lebanon, said.

“You can’t show up unprepared for the Middle East. Careless messaging from the White House has consequences, even when no one takes the tweeter seriously. I hope future American presidents will try to help put out fires in the region, not fan them.”

The Democratic senator Chris Murphy said on Twitter: “Before the explosion, Lebanon was already in dire crisis, with a collapsed economy and sectarian tensions at a boiling point.

“I can’t imagine anything worse right now than Trump making unfounded claims of an ‘attack’,” Murphy added. “Could set off something truly awful in Lebanon.”"
