Deutsche Bank Reportedly Gave Trump’s Financial Records to Manhattan DA Cy Vance

On Monday, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office announced that it was investigating “public reports of possibly extensive and protracted criminal conduct at the Trump Organization.” This was a concerning development for a president who has settled a lawsuit over what a federal judge called a “fraudulent university” and who was accused by the New York Attorney General of running a charity with a “shocking pattern of illegality.”

With this new development, New York’s Jonathan Chait notes that Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. is “trying to obtain financial records that could confirm publicly reported crimes,” of which “there are potentially a lot”:

    In the meanwhile........................

Facebook removed hundreds of accounts on Thursday from a foreign troll farm posing as African-Americans in support of Donald Trump and QAnon supporters. It also removed hundreds of fake accounts
linked to conservative media outlet The Epoch Times that pushed pro-Trump conspiracy theories about coronavirus and protests in the U.S.

Facebook took down the accounts as part of its enforcement against coordinated inauthentic behavior, which is the use of fake accounts to inflate the reach of content or products on social media.

The foreign pro-Trump troll farm was based in Romania and pushed content on Instagram under names like “BlackPeopleVoteForTrump” and on Facebook under “We Love Our President.”

BBC article from May 2020 describing how the pandemic sucked the oxygen out of Trump who decided to turn to the press, of all people, as his ventilator.

Coronavirus: From 'We've shut it down' to 100,000 US dead
    Jon Sopel, North America editor
    BBC News
    27 May 2020

From 'We've shut it down' to 100,000 US dead

    excerpts:

"And because of the lockdown, here was a president who was deprived of the two things he yearns for most - a day out playing golf, and an evening rally addressing raucous, loving crowds. There were also no heads of states visiting him, where the cameras would record his thoughts on whatever was the subject du jour. He was being starved of the oxygen of publicity, and so daily to the briefing room he would come, with us reporters playing the most unlikely role as his ventilator. Being intubated to a bunch of journalists he's never trusted was never going to end well."

"The president's own erratic performances at these briefings were coming to be seen as counterproductive by Republican strategists. The president's poll numbers were going down. I was at a couple of the most extraordinary briefings. There was the one where the president made it all about himself. His staff had produced a lengthy campaign style video detailing how brilliantly he'd handled the outbreak - for the first 45 minutes of this over two-hour-long news conference, Donald Trump spoke about himself. He spoke about how unfair the media was to him. It was "poor me". Not once in those first 45 minutes did he talk about those who'd died, nor about those who'd been infected. Nor about the millions who were fretting about how they were going to pay the bills having lost their jobs."

    Gastric agony.

From 'We've shut it down' to 100,000 US dead

    excerpt:

"I was also at the briefing where the president spoke about injecting disinfectant to treat coronavirus. Dr Birx, who was sitting at the side of the briefing room, looked like she was in some kind of gastric agony as she listened to the president, but never felt she had the space to stand up and say: "This is dangerous nonsense." His performance was lampooned and ridiculed."

DeWine hasn't been aligned with Trump's dismissive attitude toward the coronavirus. It's probably why Ohio has been able to maintain some control over the virus.

He issued a statewide order to wear face covering in public because of an upward creep of new cases in Ohio.

DeWine also issued a travel warning for those who have visited the states with governors who have been aligned with Trump's dismissive attitude.

Columbus Ohio news this morning stated that DeWine had a second test that is negative (PCR test). Apparently the second test is a better test or so they say.

As someone who lives in Ohio I can say that even with a statewide mask order there are still a lot of people who don't wear them.
Granted, as a high risk person, I don't get out too much other than grocery shopping and other errands but I do see local news and stories.

Trump keeps dreaming of a Hail Mary vaccine in time for his reelection.

Even if a vaccine was imminent, people still have to question why they would want to vote for Trump who has shown repeatedly that he doesn't have the mental ability and stability to handle a real crisis.

Trump's dreams of a vaccine as his October Surprise aren't rooted in reality
    Analysis by Stephen Collinson, CNN

Analysis: Trump's dreams of a vaccine as his October Surprise aren't rooted in reality - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"He predicts a vaccine breakthrough multiple times a day, assures Americans he has the military on standby to rush it out and promises 100 million, 250 million, even 500 million individual doses will be very quickly available. He hails a "tremendous" vaccine that is "very close" and will be ready "very, very early, before the end of the year, far ahead of schedule."

Experts are very hopeful about the potential for an effective vaccine, but by implying one is almost imminent and will quickly end the pandemic, Trump is raising expectations that are unlikely to be swiftly met and would come too late to save his presidential campaign in any case.

But from a short-term political perspective, talking about a vaccine allows Trump, who's down in the polls, a chance to promise voters an end to the nightmare that has upended everyday life for much of the country. A big White House South Lawn announcement that a vaccine is finally within reach a few days before a close election must dance in the President's dreams at night.:

    Another authoritarian maneuver by Trump.

He's still upset about low turnout at his Tulsa rally. He posted online that the crowd would be huge based partly on people who had registered for the event via TikTok with no intent of attending.

Trump issues orders banning TikTok and WeChat from operating in 45 days if they are not sold by Chinese parent companies - CNNPolitics

    excerpt

"The President's threat to shut down the platform also comes a month after a stunt organized mainly through TikTok may have led to a sparsely-attended Trump campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In the days leading up to the June 20 rally, a coordinated effort was underway on TikTok encouraging people to register online for the free event and not show up."

When his claims are well rounded they remind me of Republican road apples which frequently happen in Trump country.

Trump's spokesman Kudlow was telling CNN that the Trump administration wants people to have an incentive to return to work. He did not mention anything about the danger of Coronavirus contamination. The virus is contagious, after all. And Trump's advisors seem unable to grasp the seriousness. He attempted to paint a picture of the unemployed Americans as lazy and wanting to live on unemployment benefits. In contrast, he did not speak about the dishonest corporate executives who got millions of government money, when they were already millionaires. When Biden is president, we need to make sure these millionaires are audited so we know if they had come by their fortunes in an honest manner. The first of these audits should be Trump and his close associates.

We can apply the same logic to things Republicans care about and watch them have a melt down.

    1. If we stop keeping statistics of planned parenthood ZERO women had abortions or any birth control. Really every women must have given birth,
    2. If we stop having any voter ID laws there would be no fraud

Somehow I think they would say in these areas testing and watching are important. I wonder why.

These points you made about REPUBLICANS reveal their blatant hypocrisy. Facts & figures only count and matter when THEY BENEFIT from them. Honesty and integrity ARE NOT in their DNA. I'm talking about the power broker Republicans .................. not the avg. citizen Republican who lives in most neighborhoods.

Personally ..................... I want FACTS ..................... not altered "alternative facts" as the mentally dysfunctional Kelli-Anne Conway offered up. FACTS stand alone. FACTS are un-alterable. I want FACTS ............. no matter where the chips fall and who benefits from them. ABSOLUTE TRUTH is the thing that clears the fog. Unfortunately ......................... most politicians are highly-trained, professional LIARS.

Somehow ........... your quote got placed below my post that's a response to - and agreement with - your quote.

I like the tweet by anti-Trump Republican strategist Ana Navarro-Cárdenas: "Out of all the ridiculous lies he’s uttered, Trump saying Biden is against God and will hurt the Bible is right up there in the Top 5 of Stupid Crap Trump says. You know, it’s be like saying Trump is against golf and will hurt Putin."

BFD. Coming from the guy who's been lamenting "political correctness" from "the Left" for years, Six demonstrates the hypocrisy that's so prevalent on "the Right". Biden's statement was not politically correct. The politique politician wouldn't say that, because members of a voting bloc might consider it offensive to imply that they aren't diverse in every respect compared to some other demographic. In context, and in relative terms, Biden was making a valid point. He was talking about policy toward Cuba, and saying there is much greater diversity among components of the Hispanic population on a subject like that than there is within the African-American community. Hispanics of Cuban descent tend to be staunchly conservative and Republican; Hispanics of Mexican descent not so much. As gaffes go, I don't think this was a biggie compared to Trump's repeated suggestions that African-Americans are mostly unemployed ghetto dwellers and Mexican immigrants are "people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people," Biden later clarified his comments, something Trump never does lest it show weakness.

The fact that Republicans would seize on Biden's comment and try to make it into a big deal simply shows their desperation.

When the people of Arizona were using the dismissive Trump approach, new coronavirus cases and deaths rose significantly. The state later clamped down during the summer and new cases dropped.

Trump and the following may contend that it's an example of the virus magically disappearing, but it isn't.

Trump would have been in a much better situation heading into the election if he had followed his own administration's guidelines that he flouted for months to try to please the ideological hangups of his base.

I ran into some Republican friends in WalMart who were teasing me for wearing a mask, which they weren't wearing. I ran into them again yesterday and they were wearing masks (it's now required)--with Trump's name on them. One way of bridging the ideological gap?
