US State Department lifts global 'Do Not Travel' advisory

After more than four months, the US State Department on Thursday lifted its advisory warning US citizens against traveling abroad.

The department issued the Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory -- the highest level of travel advisory -- on March 19, urging US citizens not to travel overseas due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, "(w)ith health and safety conditions improving in some countries and potentially deteriorating in others, the Department is returning to our previous system of country-specific levels of travel advice (with Levels from 1-4 depending on country-specific conditions), in order to give travelers detailed and actionable information to make informed travel decisions," a Thursday note from the State Department said.

Still a drop, and an even bigger one than the negative 5,3% that I reported back in July. The expectation/fantasy was that the economy was supposed to keep booming and continue its upwards trend, if we just ignore all those pesky corona restrictions, and pretend it's not there. Well, obviously didn't happen, and a whole lot of people died for nothing.

    Novel bunyavirus re-emerges in China

A deadly virus has re-emerged in China, infecting more than 60 people and killing seven.

The highly pathogenic, tick-borne novel bunyavirus can lead to thrombocytopenia syndrome.

It causes a viral haemorrhagic fever and has re-emerged in rural areas of China.

CNA reports that a 65-year-old tea farmer in China’s Jiangsu province recently fell ill with a fever of 40C and a repetitive cough.

Beijing-backed Global Times reported 37 people had been diagnosed with thrombocytopenia in the Jiangsu province

Being diabetic, my Doctors have prescribed Metformin for me for the past five years. They also tested me for Vitamin 'D' and since I was acutely Vitamin 'D' deficient, since last Winter I have been prescribed a Vitamin 'D supplement. To date, I have remained Covid - 19 free.

Another study from Sth Korea saying a 14 day quarantine was always inadequate

Symptomless cases 'carry same amount of virus'

"The median time (the number where half of cases were higher and half were lower) from being diagnosed to receiving a negative test was 17 days in asymptomatic patients and 19.5 days in symptomatic patients"

For those of you who still think it was never going to turn into the young vs the old:

Young people blamed for fuelling global pandemic

"Carefree young people around the world are being blamed for fuelling coronavirus cases as many get sick and tired of life in lockdown.

Health authorities in Germany, Spain, Canada the US and at the World Health Organisation have warned that trying to get the message out to young people they need to stay home is proving more difficult. "

Jahleel Marsh dies after coronavirus denies him chance at surgery

A Melbourne mother has shared her heartbreaking story of losing her child after the coronavirus pandemic stopped the family travelling to Poland for life saving surgery.

Rebecca Marsh, 41, was scheduled to take her son Jahleel to Poland for surgery for gene replacement therapy to treat his Amino Acid Decarboxylase Deficiency (AADC).

Jahleel was diagnosed at just three months old with the rare disorder that is also known colloquially as “children’s Parkinson’s”.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    In a related news story..........................

7-year-old boy is now the youngest COVID-19 victim in Georgia

The child, who was a resident of Chatham County, had no known underlying health conditions, the state's health department confirmed to CBS News on Friday.

Every COVID-19 death we report is tragic, but to lose someone so young is especially heart-breaking," Nancy Nydam, Director of Communications for the Georgia Department of Public Health, told CBS News.
"We know that older individuals and those with underlying conditions are at higher risk of complications, but this is a disease everyone, regardless of age, should take seriously."

President Donald Trump faced criticism after falsely claiming that children are "almost immune" to the virus, as schools nationwide continue to grapple with when and how to reopen.
The CDC reports at least 45 children age 14 and under have died from COVID-related causes since the pandemic began.

Why are they reporting it as Covid if they haven't even done the autopsy yet?

Is it going to be another meningitis after a strep infection one again?

    The kid had a seizure

Because If he didn’t have Covid-19 he would be alive and well playing in the backyard pool with his siblings, not in some pine box at
the funeral home being prepared for burial.

btw you are one sick fuck.

The real reason the state of Victoria, Australia is where it is:

"I have also heard that the health databases in Victoria are hopelessly inadequate and that contact tracing is piecemeal and sometimes even paper-based.

This is supported by a report in The Age last week revealing Victoria’s public health unit was the worst resourced in the country and this was warned about more than a year ago. Despite this, Victoria still had only 14 contact tracers when the coronavirus hit in March this year. By contrast, as reported by The Daily Telegraph last month, the number of contact tracers in NSW was 150 and being expanded to 380 – of whom up to 80 are now being deployed to Victoria.

And then of course there was the fact the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services was officially and publicly advising at-risk people waiting for test results that they could go out in the community even as the Premier was publicly telling people they were forbidden from doing so.

Or the chief health officer saying that actual positive cases who were in enforced isolation in apartments – like housing commission flats for example – could still go out and exercise because of Victoria’s bespoke Charter of Human Rights. Again Andrews was forced to shut down an off-Broadway sh*tshow he apparently didn’t even know was running."

Real villain in Victoria’s virus crisis

14 contact tracers for the whole state in March

CDC: Children Can Develop Severe Cases of the Coronavirus

Children are at risk of developing severe cases of COVID-19, the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control warned in a report on Friday.

The report looked at nearly 580 kids who were hospitalized with the coronavirus between the start of March and late July. Researchers found that hospitalization rates
for children increased steadily over that timeline.

About 1 in 3 hospitalized children needed to be admitted to an intensive care unit, according to the report – a rate similar to the ICU admittance rate for hospitalized adults with the coronavirus.
