At a time when Trump and McConnell refuse to give the poorest Americans another $1200 relief check, Lobbyists connected to Trump have cut deal with 551 private interest deals. The Trump White People's Only House has been dishing out favoritism and cash like hot cakes. Some millions even went to Mnuchin by way of his private resort in California. I'm sure this will come up during the debates with Joe Biden.

The Senate report on Russia proves William Barr lied to the American people and obstructed justices by protecting Trump. I'm thinking both of them will be arrested at the end of January or first of February sometime.

Trump, While Attacking Mail Voting, Casts Mail Ballot Again

Trump, While Attacking Mail Voting, Casts Mail Ballot Again

    excerpt:

"Trump submitted the Florida primary ballot by giving it to a third party to return, a spokesperson for the Palm Beach elections supervisor confirmed to NPR Wednesday. Republicans often derisively refer to sending in a ballot this way as "ballot harvesting," and it's something Trump himself has been critical of.

"GET RID OF BALLOT HARVESTING, IT IS RAMPANT WITH FRAUD," he tweeted in April.

House Republicans recently introduced a bill to force states (which are generally allowed to establish their own rules around voting) to make the practice of turning in a non-family member's ballot illegal.

Democrats, who often refer to the practice as "community ballot collection," mostly see it as helpful for vulnerable populations; one person turning in all the ballots for a nursing home or housing complex for instance. They are suing to allow it in a number of states, as part of their legal battle to make voting rules more flexible across the country in response to the pandemic."

Barr may try to spin his ‘investigation’ before the election. Don’t believe him.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2020/08/01/barr-durham-investigation-election/

    excerpt:

"That’s far different from Barr’s other lies that implode on impact. Consider a recent example. After meeting in person with U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York Geoffrey S. Berman and failing to coerce Berman’s resignation, Barr nonetheless announced publicly that Berman had stepped down. When Berman set the record straight that evening with a public statement that he had not in fact resigned, Barr was forced to regroup and, ultimately, name a different successor to Berman — the one mandated by law — before Berman then agreed to resign. The most remarkable part of the whole episode was Barr’s brazen and easily disprovable public lie, and how quickly it was exposed thanks to Berman.

Yet none of these past incidents seems as near and dear to Barr’s heart as what’s still to come: the conclusion of the Durham investigation. It’s an investigation no ordinary attorney general would have ordered in the first place. Criminally investigating the investigators without any apparent wrongdoing is a bizarre step to take, and the very issues being explored by Durham already have been investigated by the Justice Department’s inspector general, who found that the opening of the Russia investigation (code-named “Crossfire Hurricane”) was properly predicated, with no evidence it was influenced by political bias. Yet Barr has pressed ahead — hard — with demanding that Durham investigate the FBI and, apparently, even other components of the intelligence community for their counterintelligence work in 2016. In a wild step for an attorney general, Barr has reportedly personally traveled the world to urge foreign governments to cooperate with Durham."

T-shirt on Amazon: Joe and the Hoe. There is no low to which the right won't stoop. Our right-wing politics have devolved into grade school level. Let's see if any repubs will disavow this without worrying about Herr Chumps 3rd grade missives.

After a diplomatic defeat on Friday while trying to impose sanctions on Iran, Trump and Pompeo want to invoke a snapback based on an accord from which the U.S. withdrew two years ago.

U.S. will soon trigger 'snapback' mechanism at UN for sanctions on Iran, Pompeo confirms

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/us-iran-deal-snapback-1.5484846

    excerpt:

"Pompeo and Trump have made no secret of their intention to invoke snapback, especially since their attempt to extend the arms embargo suffered an embarrassing defeat last Friday. The U.S. won just one other Yes vote, with China and Russia opposed and the 11 other members abstaining.

Just like the arms embargo extension, the administration's snapback plan is bitterly opposed by China and Russia as well as the other Security Council members, including U.S. allies Britain and France, and could set the stage for a battle over the legitimacy of the UN's most powerful body.

Alone among the council's 15 members, the U.S. argues that as an original participant in the nuclear deal it retains the right to demand restoration of sanctions.

The others, which still support the deal, maintain the U.S. lost that standing when Trump pulled out of the accord in 2018, but it isn't clear if they can stop the invocation of snapback through technical procedural means.

The U.S. argument is highly controversial. It has been ridiculed by the Chinese, Russians and Europeans, and not even the biggest Iran hawks in the United States all agree with it.

Former Trump national security adviser John Bolton, no slouch when it comes to anti-Iran positions, has long said that the U.S. lost its snapback standing when it withdrew from the deal and that moving ahead is not worth the damage it could do to U.S. veto power in the council.

In a stunningly rare moment of agreement, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif praised Bolton this week.

"At least he is consistent — a trait notably absent in this U.S. administration," Zarif tweeted."

    excerpt:

"But whether any other council member will respond to the U.S. move by introducing a resolution to extend sanctions relief is an open question.

Some UN experts believe the others will just ignore the Americans, leaving the Trump administration in the possible position of having to introduce its own resolution to extend sanctions relief for the sole purpose of vetoing it.

"We don't know if any country will do that," said Richard Gowan, the UN director of the International Crisis Group. "If the general view of the council is that the U.S. doesn't have standing, it's quite possible that no council member will even engage at that level."

"The U.S. could actually table a resolution of its own and then veto it, just to show that it is going through the procedural motions, although that would look a little bit farcical," Gowan said."

Trump is known for not having an inhibition for engaging in farcical maneuvers.
