2020 election: Trump says he can win NY, would be first Republican since Reagan

    excerpt:

"The Post reports Trump also showed reporters a map of New York’s 2016 presidential election results, featuring much of the state in “red.” Trump won more counties than Democrat Hillary Clinton, but lost the state by nearly 22 points largely due to downstate voters.

According to 270towin.com, New York has primarily been a “blue” state since the Great Depression. A Republican presidential candidate hasn’t received more than 40% of the state’s popular vote since George H.W. Bush in 1988; Reagan was the last GOP candidate to win the state in ’84 with 54% of the vote.

“Who would not vote for me?” Trump asked the Post. “We did well last time, but to get over 50 percent is hard for a Republican. But we’re putting New York in play. We’re going to play it very strong and very hard. And we are going to try to win New York.”"

Currently, about 63% of NY are favoring Biden over 32% for Trump.

Trump formally changed his place of residence from NY to Florida in 2019.

He should be concerned about the 38 electoral votes in Texas where polls are showing him in a close race with Biden.

Here in our America which you seem to fall short in understanding, our laws clearly say a 17 year old killer can be tried as an adult, and if there are aggravating circumstances, the 17 year old can be put to death. Here Rittenhouser has killed a second man an that makes the first aggravating circumstance. Here he also shot a third man who did not die. That's the second aggravating circumstance. That man who did not die can testify against Rittenhouser, right along with the other witnesses. Then there is the evidence that the weapon was illegally acquired and crossed state lines. That's another aggravating circumstance. The there is the sheriff saying he got asked to deputize the vigilantes, which he declined to do. The request to be deputized is not against the law but impersonating a peace officer while using an illegal weapon will be another aggravating circumstance. I'm all for the prosecutor going after that Trump supporter hard.

Trump has something very big he wants to hide. I think it is proof of outright criminal activity.

He said the same thing about California in 2016, and we see how that turned out.

Three months later, the violence has worsened. Trump foments it while contending that he will quell it in a second term.

Trump is inciting the far-right to fight a violent civil war. Here is why he is doing it and how WE stop it.

Trump’s inciting the far-right to fight a violent civil war. Here’s how we stop it

    excerpt:

"As justified anger flared amongst communities who had had enough, as protests erupted around the city, as the official autopsy blamed the cause of death on underlying health conditions despite there being a video of his murder, as militarised police hit the streets turning a protest into a powder keg guaranteed to blow, as opportunists took advantage of the situation, as black people around the country cried tears at yet another life taken away due to police brutality — Trump decided this wasn’t the time to extend warmth and be an empathetic leader. This was not the time to be a human and say “Enough is enough, I stand with black people. I will do what it takes to make things better.”

Instead, he grabbed the opportunity to incite a civil war and then doubled down his efforts in the White House garden. Whilst he is seemingly sending the US military out on the streets, his actual call to arms is neo-Nazis and extreme right-wing Christian movements. If he succeeds, he will get a violent race war that will get him what he wants and gives the extremists within his MAGA movement exactly what they need. What is happening in the USA right now (and in other countries around the world, including the UK) is steps towards the worst aspects of authoritarianism and totalitarianism. Certain leaders are hell-bent on dividing people so that they can create the conditions to achieve their personal goals. It is fuelled through carefully crafted ultranationalist fervour, the sowing of divisions in society, and the motivations of various disparate groups who all have something to gain along the way. Leaders will use all of this to provoke reactions that will enable them to slowly erode our rights, knowing full well that apologists will tell us “trust the law’ — until one day there is no law."

Everyone should ask themselves the same question about why they supported Trump, not just the members of the military who now feel that got shafted by Trump after all the insults they already knew he had leveled at McCain and others. When someone is mistreating various groups, they're likely to treat you the same way eventually.

Trump's acceptance cone has become increasingly narrow during his tenure. On Fox with Ingraham, he recently talked like he's the only rational mind remaining in a sea of stupid people and therefore he has to be aggressive.

Trump’s inciting the far-right to fight a violent civil war. Here’s how we stop it

    excerpt:

"At that point, anyone with any decency should have asked ‘Do I really want to follow someone that is celebrated by someone who led the KKK?’. I suspect many did and the answer was something along the lines of ‘Trump isn’t that bad. He just says controversial things, he doesn’t mean it. Just because David Duke supports him, that doesn’t make me a white supremacist. I voted for Trump for the economy or something else’. Once you support a team, you’ll always find ways to rationalise something that is at odds with your own belief system. Until one day, you don’t."

From my post on Monday, the number of dead U.S. citizens from Covid-19 has risen to 185,000 from 180,000 just 2 days ago. 5000 more dead. We lead the world in the number of dead from Covid-19.

Rick Perry: I told Trump he was God's 'chosen one,' though 'imperfect'

    excerpt:

"Perry, who will reportedly soon be leaving the Cabinet, explained that nothing in the universe is accidental and that God "is still very active in the details of the day-to-day lives of government."

"Barack Obama didn't get to be the president of the United States without being ordained by God. Neither did Donald Trump," he said in a Fox News interview that aired Sunday, adding that God has used "individuals who aren't perfect all through history."

"King David wasn't perfect. Saul wasn't perfect. Solomon wasn't perfect. And I actually gave the president a little one-pager on those Old Testament kings about a month ago," Perry said."

Trump is still dodging the issue of racial problems in the U.S.

He didn't mention Blake's name during his Kenosha visit.

Trump visits Kenosha, calls violence ‘domestic terrorism’

Trump visits Kenosha, calls violence 'domestic terrorism'

    excerpt:

Trump later added he felt “terribly” for anyone who suffered a loss, but otherwise only noted that the situation was “complicated” and “under investigation.” The only words acknowledging the concerns of African Americans came from a pastor who attended Trump’s law enforcement roundtable.

Pressed by reporters, Trump repeatedly pivoted away from assessing any sort of structural racism in the nation or its police departments, instead blasting what he saw as anti-police rhetoric. Painting a dark portrait of parts of the nation he leads, the president predicted that chaos would descend on cities across America if voters elect Democrat Joe Biden to replace him in November.

Biden hit back, speaking to donors on a fundraising call after Trump left Kenosha.

“Donald Trump has failed to protect America. So now he’s trying to scare the hell out of America,” Biden said. “Violence isn’t a problem in Donald Trump’s eyes. It’s a political strategy.”

The election is playing out in “anxious times,” with “multiple crises,” Biden said. He included police violence in the list, along with the coronavirus pandemic and its economic fallout, and said Trump refuses to address any of them honestly.
