You seem to have ascribed an intent to me that I did not state, and don't really have. My objection to the way the Republicrats have things locked up for themselves has to do with ballot access as well as taxpayer funding for their pet cause. It is extremely difficult and draining for third parties to even get on the ballot. Ross Perot could do it through the late Reform Party because he was a billionaire. I do not understand how you transitioned to your comment about liberal democracy which, I admit, as it is structured in the USA, I have grave concerns about. But you are facile, albeit lacking in rationale for your claim that Republicans and Trump who seem to be happy to want to destroy the American democratic system of government. Poppycock!- and a pure, baseless calumny showing no evidence of thought. Moreover, I suspect the push for mail in voting- to ensure the maximum participation of the no-information voter- has more to do with ensuring Democrats are elected, as opposed to any concern for the future of the United States of America.
My reference to a child's falsehoods was not so much to compare Trump mis-representations to those of a child, as to point our that some falsehoods are much more consequential tham others. I think that was obvious from my comments above. While Trump has an unfortunate tendency to babble whatever comes to his mind, I submit none of this falsehoods are as significant as those of Obama (whereas Biden just babbles incoherently). Of course, you couldn't be bothered to address the substance of my comment, and merely picked on an incidental item, and to present it disingenuously. I suspect your brain to too pot-addled to engage in informed discourse, making you, no doubt, a victim of TDS syndrome and loyal Democrat.
Yes, crime is acceptable if Trump's worshippers do it, but no one else. It's a racism sort of ideology.
You don't want to help other people's kids yourself. You just want to force other people to help other people's kids. And it makes you feel like you're a better person somehow. Very disingenuous.
To all who believe what Rump, muck-mouth Mitch, and THE REPUBLICAN PARTY are saying and doing concerning tax cuts, funding cuts, etc. But Rump's tax cuts VERY OBVIOUSLY favor the RICH. So as much as REPUBLICANS squawk and whine if a Democrat tries to help someone who really needs financial aid, aid for college, health care - you REPUBS find it totally acceptable to give giant tax breaks to filthy rich people who don't need "X" millions & billions handed back to them. And as someone else stated above, since the Covid-19 pandemic began, the mega-rich have become $800 billion RICHER just since the start of the pandemic!!!!!! Sounds like they need another juicy tax break from THE REPUBLICAN PARTY while Moscow Mitch and cronies slash away at Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. BTW ........... remember tricky-dicky Cheyney?? Tricky Dicky said on TV that, "Deficits don't matter" when he and George W. Bush were in the White House. I watched that interview!! He said it .......... that's a FACT !!! So was Cheyney lying to America?? Or is muck-mouth Moscow Mitch lying??? You can't have one Repub saying deficits don't matter - and another saying "We have to cut funding to SS, Medicare, Medicaid, college loans, Pell grants, the EPA and OSHA budgets, etc, because this deficit has to go." And after the REPUBLICANS gold-plate the bank accounts of the ALREADY super-rich, those same REPUBLICANS bitch about "the deficit" - which they just made worse by giving billions of dollars of tax revenue to those same mega-donor filthy rich folks. Then ......................... THEN .............. they try their damnedest to cut funding to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid - school loans, Pell grants, Osha and EPA budgets to ................. get rid of that nasty "deficit" by taking that little bit of help from avg. working people ..................... of BOTH PARTIES !!!!! They F- over the very same idiots who vote them into office ............... and who are too stupid to realize who's doing it to them. Some loud-mouthed, flapping yap REPUBLICAN will say "it's the Democrats fault this is happening to you people!" ....................... and those dumb-ass idiots will believe it !!!! You want to get smart ?? DO NOT LISTEN to what they say ........................ watch what they DO. Watch who does what to who. Who cuts funding for things avg. Americans - both Republicans AND Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, Green Party - REALLY NEED. THE NECESSITIES of life ............... NOT LUXURIES like a 2nd yacht, a 7th multi-million dollar home, a helicopter, a private jet, throwing a "sweet 16" party for all the daughters that run upwards of a quarter million dollars each, more vehicles than you can even use, your own private island, an "underground, fully furnished and fully-stocked-with-all-the-comforts "doomsday" bunker in New Zealand, etc. REPUBLICANS cut funding to the things avg. Americans NEED ........................ NECESSITIES for all of us. I'll say this to all the Rump and REPUBLICAN defenders and lovers ....................... you better hope you're very rich and financially independent. If muck-mouth, MOSCOW MITCH and his cronies get their way, Social Security dwindles, Medicare & Medicaid get cuts to their funding and most likely go away ..................... you better have LOTS and L - O - T - S of money to cover ALL your retirement expenses. Some of my own friends, who are hard-line Republicans, keep saying, "They won't cut funding to those programs. They won't do that." DO THEY PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THEIR PARTY HAS BEEN DOING AND SAYING???? !!!!!! That's all Moscow Mitch talks about to cut the deficit. And I know for a FACT they have very little money saved at all. Their jobs pay like it's still 1978. You heard it here first.
Here's an interesting article, but I'm sure you'll discredit it since it was published by the New York Times Opinion | Trump’s Lies vs. Obama’s So you must be smoking pot if you oppose Trump? What hallucinogens do you have to take to support him?
Everyone has the time, opportunity, and money to go to college....obviously you're delusional on this topic.
srgreene LOL – you see no evidence at all - honestly? Nothing, absolutely nothing at all, zilch, nada, rien - honestly? You are going to stand there hand on heart and say you believe Trump and the Republicans are been completely respectful of American Democracy and political norms? I mean come on, you think it slanderous to even suggest such a thing – honestly? What is a no-information voter? I mean in my experience here and elsewhere is that the majority of time it is those on the right that seemed ill informed and unable to defend their ideas in any rational why and that includes yourself who has walked away from questions you don’t seem to have answers for or criticisms you seemed unable to address. Are you going to come back to those threads when you are better informed or just remain ignorant and unable to reply?
Trud LOL do you ever think before you post or do you just post out whatever passes through you head at any particular time, because again, this makes no sense. I mean why disingenuous I’ve actually been very clear - I’m on record as saying I want to help people to fulfil their potential and have explained at length why this not only helps them but is also beneficial to the whole of society. If anything it is you that seems to be evasive in replying to the many outstanding questions and criticisms of your ideas. Why would you and these others not want to help children? As to ‘forced’ do you mean taxation? Are you saying you are opposed to any and all taxation and an anarchist that wishes for no government at all? As I showed above public money has vastly improved society through the funding of innovations and social infrastructure – including education – why would you be opposed to that?
I think that if you had shown the German people in 1932 what their country would be like in 1944 they would rightly have been horrified. Even many that supported Hitler would have been horrified But people can’t see into the future you can only take note of warning signs – and many, many people back in pre-Nazis Germany gave warnings about what Hitler and the Nazis were like (for example look up Hans Litten) As I’ve said I don’t think Trump is Hitler or the Republicans Nazis but the American people can’t look into the future they can only look at the warning signs that are all around. As someone said above -Trump is trafficking in fear, hatred, intimidation, and violence – those are warning signs. Do Trump and the Republicans seem more interested in having power than they do about upholding political norms – well clearly from Merrick Garland, to voter suppression to using the supposedly apolitical for political gain then the answer is yes – that is a warning sign Using the officers of state to reward their friends and go after their enemies – is a warning sign Attacking the free media and calling them the enemies of the people and threatening them with consequences if they say things that are not liked by those in power – is a warning sign I could go on but really that should be enough. I hope that unlike the Germans back in the 1930’s the Americans in 2020 take heed of the warning signs and act accordingly
Yes Trump is resorting to fear-mongering, that's all he has left. He claims to be the law and order candidate (apparently that doesn't apply to white collar crime) and says he will crack down on these protests. He already sent federal troops to Portland and made the situation worse. And it doesn't occur to him that he's partly to blame for these riots. The Biden campaign needs to mount a really aggressive attack on Trump, pointing out his corruption and incompetence. Hillary Clinton's campaign failed because it was too soft, it pulled too many punches. Let's pull all the stops and do what we can to get the creep out of office.
I suspect that Trudge is trying to make the same point often made by the evangelical and libertarian right, to which he seems to belong: private charity, good; public charity, bad. What he thinks we should do is instead of supporting public services for the poor and needy (which would be taking from others) is to go out and find some actual poor and needy people to help directly from our wallets, or maybe through private charitable organizations like churches. I think he opposes government social programs. But maybe he can clarify. Trouble is,you and I giving to select poor people we've identified won't make much of a dent in the problem, and folks can be downright stingy in their donations to charity. Dickens gave us a vivid impression of what it was like in the "good ol' days" of Victorian England when the private approach to charity was the norm. Utilitarians, who came to prominence during that era, managed to persuade most of us that it would be more conducive to the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people for the government to take on a greater role in seeing to it that the poor were properly looked after. The U.S. Constitution specifically authorizes the national government to tax and spend for the general welfare, while providing for the public welfare remains a responsibility of state and local governments under their so-called "police" power..
The latest disturbing thing Trump is talking about is withholding funds appropriated by Congress to states and cites where there are anti-racism protests--i.e., Democrat states cities. If that isn't lurching toward dictatorship, what is? And they complained about Obama's executive orders!
