Trump's lack of control over his mouth may have been more of an asset for him as a newcomer in 2016 than 2020 before people had yet to endure it for years. Although his outlandish remarks seem to have an unlimited shelf life with his most ardent supporters, his poll numbers have dropped among U.S. military personnel and women.

"Further, Trump can thank veterans for his 2016 victory over Hillary Clinton. According to the CCES study of verified 2016 voters, he won veterans and active military members by a 27-point margin over the Democratic nominee.

This was a huge deal for Trump because active military and veterans make up about 12% of voters. To give you some perspective, that's a slightly higher proportion of the electorate than Hispanic voters (some of whom are or were part of the armed forces) and just a hair less than 18-29 year-olds (again some of whom did or are currently serving in the military).

A look at the swing states reveals just how pivotal this bloc is. Trump won the six close swing states of Arizona, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin by less than 4 points each. Without winning at least some of these states, Trump would have lost.

Trump lost among those who were not active or veteran voters in each of these six states. In other words, Trump would not be President right now if it were not for the military vote. In Florida, for example, Trump would have been defeated by a little less than 5 points without military voters. He actually won the state by 1 point."

 

The 9/11 deaths are currently about 1.5% of the U.S. coronavirus death toll which is approaching 200,000.

Trump could have saved many thousands of lives if he hadn't denied the virus for months and thwarted social distancing guidelines to appeal to his ardent supporters to try to eke another election victory in 2020. The financial damage that was incurred due to his denialism could have been mitigated.

Seven months later, he and his following are still denying the deaths by trying to paint them as being caused by underlying conditions. He's still thwarting social distancing guidelines.

His mindset and behavior exacerbate real crises and turn them into culture wars rather than remedy them.

He might as well return to his Hollywood lifestyle where he can claim meaningless victories over frivolous culture battles that he concocts to feed his insatiable ego and where he can have people like David Pecker bury unfavorable stories about him, as opposed to the environment of DC where he has been stripped bare.

 

Trump still has about two months to win the black vote.

The disease is more serious than you make it out to be, honestly. I feel like an idiot explaining it though. But it seems to me that you should put a little trust in science, the government, etc. They're not out to get you, and I don't think they're motivated by financial gain; at least not in this. It seems like they're genuinely trying to save lives; even if they don't know exactly what they're talking about half the time.

 

But, but, they make Trump look bad.
All the people who have died are immaterial to him. They can't vote for him, after all..

"Like other policies put forth with little advance notice, Trump’s focus on diversity training seems to have originated with something he saw on Fox News. On Tuesday night, Tucker Carlson interviewed Christopher F. Rufo, a conservative scholar at the Discovery Institute who criticized what he called the “cult indoctrination” of “critical race theory” programs in the government.

“It’s absolutely astonishing how critical race theory has pervaded every institution in the federal government, and what I’ve discovered is that critical race theory has become in essence the default ideology of the federal bureaucracy and is now being weaponized against the American people,” Rufo said on the program.

On his website, Rufo identified six agencies that had conducted training sessions that he said asserted that America is inherently racist and promoted concepts like unconscious bias, white privilege and white fragility. At the Treasury Department, for instance, he said that employees had been told that “virtually all white people contribute to racism” and that white staff members should “struggle to own their racism.”

Trump’s memo Friday adopted much of this language, attributing it to “press reports.” The memo, signed by Russell T. Vought, director of the Office of Management and Budget, said “this divisive, false, and demeaning propaganda of the critical race theory movement is contrary to all we stand for as Americans and should have no place in the Federal government.”"
