Yes, the precedent of Graham v. Connor still seems to be in effect and seems more relevant than ever. As legal precedents go, 30 years is not that old. Why would the requirement of objective reasonableness be lifted during rioting and looting, especially when the rioting and looting are purportedly occasioned by officers who failed to use the standard?

 

Why don't you try thinking with your head instead of your gut for a change? You might get better results. I think getting Trump out of the picture could have a calming effect. I seriously doubt that Biden and Harris are about to do anything too radical to inflame the situation, but the pressure on the police will still be there as long these incidents of killing unarmed black men keep happening.

Is there a "riot" in a neighborhood near you? Particularly where there are riots over police abuses, we need officers with good judgment and professionalism calling the shots--not running riot themselves. My sisters attended the protest against the WHO in Seattle back in 1999. It turned into a police riot after a bunch of black-masked anarchists showed up and started smashing things: police spraying bystanders with mace, etc. Not good. One officer fired his weapon point blank into a group of demonstrators to prevent access to the WTO.
