Oh, those pesky facts getting in the way again Covid mortality rate is way down across the world, which will make it just that much harder to convince young people to give a crap about following restrictions
It's a paradox, you can't have active cases that high, 5000 deaths a day with 33 Million cases puts the mortality rate at 0.015% Which is just influenza territory Even though 90% of those 33 Million would have cleared by now
I agree about the embarrassment. I disagree about Wallace. I don't think anyone could control that out-of-control pit bull we've put in the Oval Office.
You have to remember we’re dealing with a sociopath here, so when someone mentions 210,000 lives lost from coronavirus, a sociopath can casually brush it off without a thought and move on to the next topic of debate. Chris Wallace did say at the start of the evening that “My job is to be as invisible as possible.”- well he succeeded
I agree that trump embarassed the nation, and I agree that Wallace lost control of the debate, but not sure he could have done anymore other than slap trump upside the head.
Fact check: trump said that the Obama/Biden administration left with 182 unfulfilled court openings. That is true, but it's because the republican senate refused to confirm any of the judges.
There’s a simple solution to all of this. During the next debate the moderator should have a remote on/off switch, and the next time President Trump feels the need to open his pie-hole out of turn, switch off his microphone.
That’s about the only way to be able to get through all of that nonsense. But you know what, if the mic gets turned off- we might miss something that will be the deciding factor on who we vote for. I thought Trump was being the typical bully he always is, and I think people are sick and tired of his same old antics. It was everything I expected to be, it’s not Chris Wallace’s fault- he tried numerous times to get Trump under control throughout the entire debate, and the fact is, no one has EVER been able to get this guy under control. It was really hard and disturbing to watch.
Only Donald Trump could destroy a great american institution like the Presidential debates. But then again why are we surprised, he's either destroyed or debased every other great american institution.
Presidential debate: Trump and Biden trade insults in chaotic debate BBC News September 30, 2020 Trump and Biden duel in chaotic, bitter debate excerpt: "A snap viewer poll by CBS News, BBC News' US partner, named Joe Biden winner, with 48% backing him, compared to 41% for Mr Trump. But many commentators and newspapers said the real loser was the American people. On the front page of its late edition, the New York Times said "Trump's heckles" had sent the debate "into utter chaos". CNN gave a similarly withering assessment, summarising the event as an "absolutely awful debate". "It was, in a word, horrendous," CNN editor-at-large Chris Cillizza wrote. The Wall Street Journal described the debate as a "contentious" and "depressing spectacle" that had been "marked by interruptions and insults""
The initial spread of the coronavirus in the Northeast and West Coast in the spring was followed by the sunbelt states during the summer and now some of the Midwest states in autumn where cases and hospitalizations are increasing. The current problems in the Midwest are troubling for Trump whose election hinges on a number of Midwest swing states which he won in 2016 by very slim margins. The denialism of the morbidity and death by Trump and the public is partly to blame for the pattern. Each region of the country had initially hoped that it would be relatively immune but wasn't. Without an effective vaccine and widespread vaccinations, the pattern of rolling hot regions will likely continue unless the attitude changes. The cold weather months may amplify the effect of poor attitudes because of the additional risks of people being indoors often, traveling and gathering at colleges and at homes for holiday events, and the cold and flu season adding stressors on hospitals and people who may contract the coronavirus. What's next for America's coronavirus epidemic? 'Rolling hot spots.' September 1, 2020 What's next for America's coronavirus epidemic? 'Rolling hot spots.' excerpt: "America's overall average daily number of newly reported coronavirus cases has fallen from its peak in July as some hard-hit states are showing signs of improvement, but the number of newly reported cases is now accelerating in the Midwest, signaling the country is on pace to face a long-sustained epidemic with "rolling" hot spots, public health experts say."
