The GOP seems to have not fully appreciated the demographic changes that are occurring in the sunbelt states. Texas is an example. It's a state that has become competitive in presidential elections in a short time due in part to an increasing percentage of younger people in the state who are Asian and Hispanic and have higher education.

I was reading about Maricopa county, Arizona. Maricopa county was where the pardoned sheriff, Joe Arpaio, reigned supreme. He was the guy who dressed prisoners in pink jumpsuits, and made them spend time outdoors in the middle of summer. Anyway Maricopa county makes up sixty percent of the population of Arizona. Phoenix, at one time, was possibly the most conservative part of the state, but as you say, the times and demographics are changing.

Trump's concocted 'Trump card' for seniors just before the election is a fitting name, considering that 'trump card' is slang for something that is pulled out as a surprise to give one person an advantage over another.

Trump Card was a TV game show that started in 1990. Trump made a brief appearance at the start of the first airing to promote the show..

 

Those aren't conspiracy theories--Trump has stated those in public.

 

If Trump manages to send at least some of his Trump gift cards to seniors before the election, he has an opportunity to do another 'round table' event with a woman holding up her Trump card with tears coming down her eyes while thanking Trump.

Trump already did this at one of his events with a women holding up a tax refund check and crying in front of Trump.

He could even do such an event on the shoreline of Florida with a flotilla of expensive boats in the harbor as a backdrop with signs that say "Downtrodden For Trump!"

 

Listen to what he says. From his own lips and his own tweets. He had an opportunity to renounce it at the debates, and he declined. So did Pence.

Trump has insulted governor Whitmer of Michigan for supposedly not being thankful to 'his' FBI that foiled a plot to kidnap her by a rogue group of the type that has been emboldened by Trump's reckless rhetoric.

This is another one of Trump twisted ploys. Embolden such behavior, later take credit for thwarting such behavior, and accuse others of not thanking him for it.

An analog is Trump puncturing a tractor tire with the farmer's pitchfork, offering a tire patch, and then accusing the farmer of not thanking him enough for the patch.

In any other year I agree, Biden would be swept into office with powers that would make martial law seem like anarchy. In any other year but this is after all 2020.
