"The FBI has declined to confirm or deny if it’s even investigating the Hunter Biden-related emails and images, and the bureau and Justice Department have remained tightlipped on the issue. There is a long-standing institutional aversion to publicly talking about these types of investigations this close to a presidential election—though there is still no evidence at the moment that one even exists, much to the consternation of much of Trumpworld.

Were Barr to make any announcement, said Matt Miller, the former director of the Department of Justice’s public affairs office, it would be a seismic politicization of the agency.

“Barr announcing an investigation at this point would make Jim Comey’s actions in 2016 look quaint by comparison. Comey at least wasn’t trying to hurt Clinton and he wasn’t getting involved at the behest of a candidate and his attorney,” said Miller. “A Barr announcement would be a full banana republic-style intervention in the political process. DOJ shouldn’t even be taking any new investigative steps involving either candidate at this point unless there is some reason to believe those steps couldn’t wait until after the election.”

'Voters are fed up': will Arizona's suburbs abandon the party of Trump?

"Over the last four years, Republicans have watched their support collapse in suburbs across the country, as the president’s divisive rhetoric and incendiary behavior alienates women, college graduates and independent voters. But as Trump continues to downplay the seriousness of the coronavirus pandemic, even after more than 225,000 deaths nationwide and as cases continue to climb, his conduct is imperiling not only his own re-election campaign, but his entire party.

The depth of Trump’s problems with suburbanites is magnified in Maricopa county, one of the largest and most suburban counties in the nation, with a population of almost 4.5 million.

In 2016, the suburbs helped deliver Trump’s narrow victory here. But polling shows the president has lost significant ground with these voters, threatening his prospects in a state that has voted for a Democratic presidential candidate only once since 1952.

“If the president loses Arizona, it’ll be largely because he lost Maricopa county – because he lost the suburbs,” said Jeff Flake, the former Arizona senator and a conservative critic of the president who has endorsed his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden."

Several prominent pro-Trump voices have been pranked into thanking “Iblis” — a figure in the Quran typically synonymous with Satan — for supporting the president.

Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, Fox News host Tomi Lahren, former Trump aide and right-wing radio host Sebastian Gorka and controversial Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio were among those who fell for the prank, engineered by Ali-Asghar Abedi, a comedy writer and contributor for various media outlets, including PBS, The New York Times and The Independent.


The videos — which were combined into a supercut that features the pundits and politicians thanking “Iblis” for his passionate support of the president and reminding him to make American great again — were filmed via Cameo, an app where celebrities can be paid to record personalised messages for a fee.

Abedi has already used Cameo to trick right-wing figures into saying unlikely things. Other videos on his Twitter feed show him getting the notoriously anti-immigrant Arpaio to quote the famous “Immigrants, we get the job done” line from “Hamilton,” as well as pranking Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes into endorsing Trump using language from “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”

Speaking with HuffPost, Abedi said that he had paid Lewandowski and Lahren both $80 to record the message, and Arpaio $30. Gorka’s fee had been $45, but since Gorka ended up recording the message after the deadline, Abedi ended up paying nothing.

“They’re grifters who are stunningly ignorant and have no curiosity,” Abed said. “I left clues for them. I told them that Iblis was Arab American. If they had a sense of the world beyond MAGA, they’d research what Iblis means in an Arab context. I guess they’re true adherents to capitalism, placing money ahead of their own dignity.”

Abedi did point out that he was “a bit crafty” in the spelling of “Iblis.”

“I spelled it ‘Ebliz’ and laid out the pronunciation as ‘ibb-lease.’ But figured mentioning that Iblis is Arab should have been a cue to vet the request with someone who knows Arabic.”

Notorious Trump confidant and convicted felon Roger Stone had also been on the prank list, Abedi said, but potentially figured out what “Iblis” meant and “never took the bait despite multiple attempts.”

In the case of Lahren, Abedi said the Fox News pundit had learned nothing since August, when he pranked her in a viral video into saying that Trump was wise like an “ullu” — Hindi slang for an idiot or fool.

Trump's chief of staff Mark Meadows admitted that the coronavirs won't go away quickly.

A few of Trump's enthusiasts are finally starting to admit the autumn surge after continually moving the goal posts to try to deny it.

Early in the autumn surge in Wisconsin and elsewhere, Trump enthusiasts said that it was noise in the data.

Later, they admitted the rise in cases but said it was due to increased testing that documented harmless cases.

Still later, they admitted the rise in morbidity and mortality but moved the goal posts again by saying that it was mainly people over age 50, as if that made it less important.

Lastly, some are now taking a totally defeatist position by saying that the pandemic is not amenable to mitigation approaches that they deem worthless and that in the upcoming months it may go out of control completely, even though they still subscribe to Trump who's been saying since March that he has it under control and its going away just around the corner.

 

People over 50 are a significant portion of Trump's base. Marginalizing them is marginalizing Trump.

Trump marginalized himself when he started making remarks that the coronavirus affects virtually no one (other than his base) while at the same time using the slogan 'Protecting America's Seniors'.at a rally in FL which has a very large contingent of seniors (his base, or what remains of it) whom he had just marginalized.

 

Trump hasn't produced a health care plan either.

Seniors who vote for him again are signing their own death warrant.

 

...like the late Herman Cain did.
