The struggling mother can take solace in Trump saying the coronavirus affects virtually no one.

Trump blames it on people in the medical community inflating the coronavirus death numbers in spite of 300,000 excess deaths in the U.S. since the coronavirus arrived (which Trump could also blame as being a fake number).

I saw that on MSNBC and CNN. I was alarmed by an article this morning which told 7000000 ballots have been mailed in but not received by the election officials. They are saying the postal service slow down is the likely reason. This has happened in the 13 swing states. Remember Trump appointed a loyalist to fuck up mail delivery and his Republican judges are already saying no ballots will be accepted after Tuesday night. It sure looks like he wants to win by cheating again. It also says Trump knows the majority of American people don't want him.

The current electoral map based on polling doesn't suggest a very large electoral margin win for either candidate.

The electoral map on 270towin.com shows Biden currently winning with 279, not including the toss-up states. Trump has 125.

About 7 states with winner-take-all assignments of electoral votes are currently considered toss-ups.

If Biden were to win the undecided states of FL, AZ, and IA (and not lose any states he is currently winning), he would win with 325 electoral votes.

If Biden also won OH and NC, he would win with 358.

If Biden won all the undecided states except TX, he'd win with 374

Trump has less paths to winning and ones that would put him slightly above the 270 needed to win.

A favorable loss situation for Trump is if it hinges on only one or two states by a narrow popular vote margin whose results he could contest to try to win the election.

Biden event cancelled as 'armed' Trump supporters threaten campaign bus

    excerpt:

"Armed Trump trolls harassing Biden Bus on I-35, ramming volunteer vehicles & blocking traffic for 40 mins," he said, before accusing Mr Trump's son Eric of inciting "violence".

"At least the Trump hearse is appropriate given the 200K+ Americans who have died due to his incompetence," he added, referencing a vehicle driven by Mr Trump's supporters to antagonise the bus."

Trump's tactics hark back to the Nixon dirty tricks approach.

Similar to Trump and his personal attorney Giuliani trying to dig up dirt on Biden, Nixon's lawyer, Kalmbach, financed Segretti to plant fake accounts about Democrats.

    Donald Segretti
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Donald Segretti - Wikipedia

    excerpt:

"Segretti was hired by his friend Dwight L. Chapin to run a campaign of dirty tricks – which Segretti referred to as "ratfucking" – against the Democrats, with his work being paid for by Herb Kalmbach, Nixon's lawyer, from presidential campaign re-election funds gathered before an April 7, 1972 law required that contributors be identified. Segretti's actions were part of the larger Watergate scandal and were important indicators for the few members of the press investigating the Watergate break-in in the earliest stages that what became known as the Watergate scandal involved far more than just a burglary."

Trump and Giuliani are worse than Nixon and Segretti in that Giuliani has been operating like a foreign agent and a Trump administration official (but unregistered and not in the Trump administration) and relying on Ukraine contacts who, unbeknownst to him, appear to be Russian agents whose information can't be trusted.

It's the same type of dirt-digging behavior that precipitated Mueller's investigation of Trump and Trump's impeachment.

I thought trump did that already.
The republicans have admitted that trump will lose the popular vote, but I am not sure if they know why that is.

Segretti tried to become a judge in Orange County, CA in the 1990's and failed.

( Not that it matters, but) I was in Hawaii during Watergate hearings and had a friend on senator Inouyes' staff. She would call to let me and my room mates know what was going to happen the next day.

Trump's law-and-order response to the plot to kidnap the governor of Michigan.

    Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping plot
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping plot - Wikipedia

    excerpt:

    "President Trump's responses

In an October 8 interview, President Trump criticized Whitmer for her rebuke of him in response to the kidnapping plot, saying he condemned all forms of "extreme violence" and calling for her to reopen her state.[96] During that interview, Trump falsely claimed that Michigan's schools and churches were closed under Whitmer's orders.[97] In response to Trump's remarks, Whitmer said it "tells you everything you need to know" about the difference between him and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.[98] Biden also reacted to Trump's remarks on October 16, saying the "failure to condemn these folks is stunning."[99]

Trump continued to attack Whitmer for her COVID-19 mitigation measures at a rally in Muskegon on October 17, which was matched with chants of "Lock her up!", to which he replied, "Lock 'em all up." Trump's daughter-in-law Lara, a campaign surrogate, later insisted he was merely "having fun" at the rally.[100] In a subsequent interview with NBC's Meet the Press, Whitmer called Trump's rhetoric "incredibly disturbing" and said it is "inspiring and incentivizing and inciting this kind of domestic terrorism". She also countered Trump's claims at the rally that she should relax the statewide COVID-19 restrictions, saying Michigan hasn't had a stay-at-home order since spring.[101] At an October 27 rally in Lansing, Trump downplayed the alleged plot and continued the verbal attacks on Whitmer, which was also met with chants of "Lock her up!".[102][103]"

    Sheriff Dar Leaf's response.

Leaf sounded apologetic to those involved in the kidnapping plot.

Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping plot - Wikipedia

Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping plot - Wikipedia

    excerpt:

    "Statements by Barry County Sheriff

Dar Leaf, the elected sheriff of Barry County, Michigan, appeared to defend two of the suspects in an October 8 interview, saying that "a lot of people are angry with the governor, and they want her arrested. So are they trying to arrest or was it a kidnap attempt? Because you can still in Michigan if it's a felony, make a felony arrest." Citing the state's citizen's arrest statute, he continued, "It doesn't say if you are an elected office that you're exempt from that arrest. I have to look at it from that angle and I'm hoping that's more what it is, in fact, these guys are innocent till proven guilty so I'm not even sure if they had any part of it."[105]

The interview went viral on the internet, along with the revelation that Leaf had shared the stage with one of the suspects at a May 18 anti-lockdown protest.[54] Attorney General Nessel condemned the remarks as "dangerous",[106] while a number of other Michigan sheriffs expressed their outrage as well.[104] Law experts disagreed with the notion that the Wolverine Watchmen were simply planning to conduct a legal citizen's arrest on Whitmer, saying it was far-fetched.[107] Leaf later clarified his comments, claiming he simply wanted a fair trial for the accused and did not agree with their alleged actions, which he called "horrible".[108] His earlier comments and his ties with one of the suspects during the anti-lockdown protest have spurred calls for him to resign.[109] On October 13, Leaf acknowledged the criticism but said he will not resign.[110]"

Trump's sons are liking a divining rod that finds the most nefarious characters.

Eric Trump changed his campaign stop that was to be held a gun store where one of the MI governor kidnapping plot suspects had worked before being fired.

    excerpt:

"A scheduled October 13 campaign stop by Eric Trump at a Lyon Township gun store was moved to a banquet center in Novi after it was discovered one of the suspects had worked there for three weeks before being fired.[111]

Eric Trump should forget about PR events at MI gun stores. He might as well simply arrest governor Whitmer himself.

Sheriff Leaf of Michigan was talking apologetic about the kidnapping suspects, as if it was legal and justified for the them to make a citizens arrest of the governor for whatever it was that they accused her of doing.

For that matter, Sheriff Leaf or other sheriffs sympathetic to the cause of the kidnapping suspects might as well arrest governor Whitmer.

Trump said that the armed demonstrators at the MI state capitol were good people and that governor Whitmer should make a deal with them.

Suspects in Whitmer kidnapping plot went to previous armed anti-lockdown rallies

    excerpt:

"Some of the men charged as part of a militia’s foiled plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer attended an armed rally earlier this year around the state’s capitol, Michigan’s attorney general said.

“When you take a look at who was at that event, and you cross reference it with the names of the people that we’ve charged, you’ll see that many of them were in fact in attendance,” Dana Nessel said on Thursday in an interview on MSNBC.

Attorney General Nessel also said that she’s concerned that some law enforcement officials in Michigan, especially local sheriffs, seemed to provide tacit or direct endorsement to members of these militia groups.

“I have a hard time as a law enforcement official seeing how any law enforcement officials could possibly support these types of groups, or want to intermingle with them, or want to participate in any of their events, but I’m telling you, that is what we’ve actually seen,” she said."

Trump’s Farm Bailout Pumped $21 Billion Into GOP Counties

    excerpt:

"More than 90% of the money disbursed by a program that compensates American farmers hurt by retaliatory tariffs during President Trump’s trade war with China was sent to counties that voted Republican in the 2016 presidential election, according to a report Tuesday evening in The Washington Post.

The Agriculture Department’s Market Facilitation Program, which distributed more than $23 billion in 2018 and 2019, sent about $21 billion to Trump counties, and just $2.1 billion to counties won by Hillary Clinton."

Since Oct 27, the election swing state of Wisconsin has had three days of over 5000 new coronavirus cases per day.

1546 people are hospitalized and 350 are in an ICU.

The average deaths per day has climbed to about 35 compared to about 7 per day in September.

Trump likely lost votes from people associated with the medical community who have been working hard against the virus while he marginalizes it by making false accusations at healthcare workers.

Trump makes baseless claims about pandemic in final stretch as Covid cases rise - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"Trump's claims about profiteering doctors sparked a backlash beyond the campaign trail. Susan Bailey, the president of the American Medical Association, said in a statement that the claim that doctors are overcounting Covid-19 patients or "lying to line their pockets is a malicious, outrageous, and completely misguided charge."

"Covid-19 cases are at record highs today," Bailey said as Friday marked the highest single day of cases in the United States since the pandemic began. "Rather than attacking us and lobbing baseless charges at physicians, our leaders should be following the science and urging adherence to the public health steps we know work -- wearing a mask, washing hands and practicing physical distancing."

Emergency physician and former Baltimore Health Commissioner Dr. Leana Wen told CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Friday night that doctors are risking their lives at a time when one person is now being diagnosed with Covid-19 every second."

Boris Johnson issues a new stay-at-home order.

England lockdown: Boris Johnson issues new stay-at-home order | DW | 31.10.2020

    excerpt:

"Johnson, who was hospitalized earlier this year for a serious case of COVID-19, added that "no responsible prime minister'' could ignore the grim figures. "Unless we act, we could see deaths in this country running at several thousand a day," he said.

Scientists have warned that the virus is spreading significantly faster in England than their most dire predictions.

Over the past 7 days, England has seen an average of 226 infections per 100,000 people."

Trump and his following deny the seriousness of these problems with one alibi after another (the figures are inflated by profiteering medical personnel; the new cases are harmless; the virus affects almost no one; the corner is being rounded; a vaccine will be here very soon that will end it quickly).

England lockdown: Boris Johnson issues new stay-at-home order | DW | 31.10.2020

    excerpt:

    "UK surpasses 1 million infections

Johnson had hoped a set of regional restrictions introduced earlier in October would be enough to push numbers down.

But government scientific advisers predict that on the outbreak's current trajectory, demand for hospital beds will exceed capacity by the first week of December, even if temporary NHS Nightingale hospitals set up during the first peak of the virus are reopened.

Chief Scientific Adviser Patrick Vallance warned that winter deaths in England could be twice as bad or more compared with the first wave in the spring.

The dramatic shift in strategy comes as Britain surpassed one million coronavirus cases during the global pandemic, after announcing nearly 22,000 new infections on Saturday."
