2020 Election

There is a truck stop in Fontana at San Bernardino Freeway and Cherry Ave exit. It's one of the most dangerous places on earth. You could get robbed, killed, or even worse after dark. The whores could kill a man there for just a few dollars. The place is full of drugs. The rest rooms have crabs that pole vault. And the food will give you the shits for a month.

Here's my take on the election as a European outsider...

While the election has been very exciting and nail biting, I think Trump (and the Republican party as a whole) has done irreparable damage to the image of America. The fact that the election is so close say a lot about the nation as a whole. While it is likely the Biden is going to win, there is no hiding from the fact that nearly half of all Americans were voting for Trump. The fact that almost a HALF of all people in the USA don't find a compulsively lying, cheating, undemocratic, treasonous, lecherous, racist, bigot who is willing to betray his country for dirty money from dictators, not utterly repulsive is beyond understanding... To think almost a half of all people of America actively SUPPORT him is absolutely terrifying.

One thing I will say Trump has done for American politics. He has converted a none political European (in me) into a person who is rivoted by the election. Never have I wanted to find out who is going to the president of a foreign country than I have done this year. Never have I read so much about American politics and have tried to understand the ins and outs of American elections than I have in the last couple of months. To this end, he has succeeded.

What do you think will happen after the election? Long drawn out court case? Trump family investigations and arrests? Trump escaping to a foreign country to avoid prosecution? Shock Trump win? Violence on the streets? Mass protests and looting?

I think it's telling that even Iran is mocking America. Trump has just s*** on his own country. Iran basically wrote American politics is a sham, America democracy is a lie and elections are rigged... Who said that? Not us (Iran) but the president of the United States!

 

Thank you. However, you don't need to be embarrassed. I have no doubt in my mind that the majority of people of America are good, decent people who will help rebuild the country to become a better place. It will take years of re-education to unwind all the bad policies, bad practices and skewed mindset of the population. That needs decent people like yourselves to aid that.

Dude, don't go defending them, there's like a more than 10% difference in some of those states between the polls and the result

How many Democrat votes do you think you lost because ones that were going to vote on the day saw Biden was up 12% in the polls and though, na, I won't bother voting, he's got it in the bag for instance

 

Anyhoo, the last month especially Trump did go off the rails

I think we can safely assume now that the destruction from the BLM riots was a big deal that turned many voters back to Trump

And maybe there isn't as many people that care about the Covid lockdown as you think

If he'd concentrated more on law and order and at least pretending to care about Covid whilst hammering home the economy he could have won, really only has himself to blame

 

The number is now down to 183,000 in Pennsylvania with still 22% of the vote out there, Mostly mail-in votes and 78% in favor of Biden.

Dude. Humans, even pollsters, aren't psychic. The same criticism could be made of newscasters who project election results before the polls have closed in California, Alaska, and Hawaii. On the other hand, there's the First Amendment.

Who knows. If they gave the pollsters their opinions, though, and then didn't show up, that may account for the discrepancy.

I find the "law and order" pitch ironic. I was just witnessing tv news coverage of a mob of Trumpsters demonstrating outside the building in Maricopa county, AZ, where the votes are being counted in the presence of Republican and Democrat poll watchers. Some had tried to enter the building, but were turned away by men from the sheriff's department. What kinds of assholes would show up to do this? What exactly are they trying to communicate? That we shouldn't be counting the ballots but should simply declare Trump the winner? Law and order, my ass!
