Remember, I'm not in New Orleans. The south-central part is the real 'french' part where I was raised, and the north is the ignorant country-bumpkins part (unfortunately where I find myself now.)
I grew up in west Texas. We were happy that pine curtain kept East Texas and North Louisiana folks away. Seriously though I worked in East Texas for a couple of years by the La. border. Very nice folks. Don’t miss the crazy log truck drivers though.
That is true, outdoor, with the pine trees (profits to be made). Unfortunately, the old growth or hardwoods don't fare as well (too slow-growing for profits to be made). Old oaks, etc are disappearing. On my small bit of property, I have six oaks, one pine, three big elms, a small green ash and one hackberry (that's one tough tree). Lots of well-fed squirrels during the summer!
It is my bedtime now. I am rather tired. My dreaded food shopping tomorrow. I will pop in at some point.
Now... That is something kept very quiet buy the world. That makes a lot of sense and it could be the reversal of the issue.
