Well, that's the far bigger issue isn't it, why so many turned a blind eye Trump won't be President in 9 days, but a whole lot of other people that looked the other way will still have the same jobs
After break with Trump, Pence charts a new path forward excerpt: "Pence also spoke with the family of Brian Sicknick, the Capitol Police officer who died from injuries inflicted by rioters during last week’s assault. The president, so far, has not spoken with the family and it took days for flags at the White House to be lowered to half-staff, as they had been on the Capitol complex for several days. Even high-ranking Trump officials have expressed frustration with the president’s conduct toward Pence, including Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Seema Verma, who has known Pence for years. Verma has told staffers she is “repulsed” at how the vice president has been treated both inside and outside of the administration and argued that attacks on him “further erodes faith in our democracy.” Trump’s decision to strong-arm Pence was the culmination of what one person familiar with the discussions described as a weekslong “pressure campaign,” beginning in mid-December, with Pence fielding calls from allies of the president looking to prop up implausible scenarios in a last-ditch effort to overturn Biden’s victory."
What you should be concerned with is this: 3 Gorillas at the San Diego Zoo have tested positive for COVID-19. You'll need a mask and a rubber, now.
Maybe. The FBI has been taking names and making arrests. Problem is, the way our system is set up, the commander-in-chief holds most of the cards and is in charge of most of the law enforcement that could respond to a large-scale attack like the one on Wednesday. The FBI has already arrested a couple of the Capitol police who may have been in on the conspiracy. One of the quainter assumptions of our founding fathers was that the people running our country would have some sense of decency and self-restraint, which unfortunately doesn't hold for our presidential incumbent. This guy could just pardon all of the perps, including himself. Wouldn't that be something?!
I hope they bring out thirty belt fed M-60 guns and at least two M-2 cannister fed guns mounted on tripods.

White House officials said Sunday Trump was set to award Belichick with the medal this week in the waning days of his administration. The two have had a well-documented friendship. But in a statement Monday, Belichick said he would not accept the medal in the wake of the Capitol attack."

I don't believe in the idolization of sports. Therefore, I am not a big sports fan. However, I have heard of this guy. Glad to see he's got some balls.
New York State Bar Association moves to oust Rudy Giuliani excerpt: "The NYSBA said it has "received hundreds of complaints in recent months about Mr. Giuliani and his baseless efforts on behalf of President Trump to cast doubt on the veracity of the 2020 presidential election and, after the votes were cast, to overturn its legitimate results." The group said it has "a responsibility to defend and protect the rule of law." "Based on these complaints, and the statement Mr. Giuliani uttered shortly before the attack on the Capitol, NYSBA President Scott M. Karson has launched an inquiry pursuant to the Association’s bylaws to determine whether Mr. Giuliani should be removed from the membership rolls of the Association," the organization said."
Translation: Donald Duck is distancing himself from Pence, anticipating both of them soon attending court in shackles, and needing a good excuse to point the finger of blame at anyone who has ever worked with him. His courtroom case could break all records.
Trump approves D.C. emergency declaration ahead of Biden inauguration excerpt: "Trump on Monday declared an emergency in Washington, D.C. and ordered federal assistance to supplement efforts to prepare for President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration later this month. The move came after D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) over the weekend asked Trump to issue an emergency declaration amid concerns about potential threats to the inauguration on Jan. 20 after a mob of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in a deadly and violent attack last week. House Democrats earlier Monday formally introduced an article of impeachment charging Trump with inciting the Capitol riots last Wednesday. Trump's action authorizes the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide assistance for emergency."

2 Capitol Police officers suspended and at least 10 more under investigation for alleged roles in riot - CNNPolitics excerpt: "Two US Capitol Police officers were suspended and at least 10 more are under investigation for their behavior during last week's assault on the Capitol, and federal agents will look at whether current and former law enforcement officers played a role in the riot. One of the Capitol police officers took a selfie with someone who was part of the mob that overtook the Capitol and the other wore a "Make America Great Again" hat and started directing people around the building, according to Rep. Tim Ryan, an Ohio Democrat. He didn't disclose how many other officers were under investigation but confirmed it was between 10 and 15, and didn't say what they were being scrutinized for except that it was their behavior during the riot. Ryan told reporters that one individual had been arrested, but a spokesperson for the congressman later said he was wrong and no members of law enforcement have been arrested. The spokesperson said at least 10 Capitol Police officers are being investigated for their roles in the riot."
'Supremely self-absorbed': Isolated Trump unlikely to mount an aggressive impeachment defense excerpt: “He’s talking to people who are willing to indulge him,” a former senior administration official said. Even more than usual, Trump has not been engaged in work of the presidency, leaving much of the official business to others, including Vice President Mike Pence, who presided over a White House coronavirus task force meeting Monday as the pandemic’s toll surges with more than 3,000 deaths a day in the United States. “Things requiring a presidential signature slowed down for sure, and he was just supremely self-absorbed,” said a former senior administration official. The official said that many conversations with Trump, even those about policy issues, have devolved into the president complaining about an election that he still won’t publicly admit he lost. “There was a feeling of a traffic jam and more and more initiatives that were piling up, and that’s frustrating for everybody,” the former official said. The relationship between Trump and Pence has also been strained since last Wednesday when the vice president refused to object to Biden’s win while presiding over a joint session of Congress to certify the election results. The president had not phoned Pence in the days since then — a snubbing that had left administration officials furious at Trump. But the two met Monday evening in the Oval Office.
