Only idiots make idle threats like that, and its only when the threats aren't flying that you have to worry. Worry.
A plea to acting Attorney General Rosen: Stop all of this week's federal executions CNN Tue, January 12, 2021, 1:57 AM EST· A plea to acting Attorney General Rosen: Stop all of this week's federal executions excerpt: "Last Wednesday's insurrection left five dead. More than 3,000 Americans are dying on average each day from Covid-19, partly because of President Donald Trump's disregard for public health. Less known is that Trump has also unleashed a mad rush of federal executions, with three more scheduled for this week at the Terre Haute federal prison facility in Indiana. This, even as demands rise for Trump's immediate departure from office. These rushed executions must be stopped so that the Department of Justice under President Joe Biden can review these cases and the federal policy on death sentences generally. Trump's frenzy of federal executions began last year. There had been no federal executions since 2003. Since July, the federal government has executed 10 people, more than in any presidency since 1896. The federal spree took place in a year with a 37-year low in executions nationally, just seven by the states."
January 11, 2021 excerpt: "This morning began with House Democrats filing one article of impeachment against Trump, charging him with “incitement of insurrection.” It makes its case by noting that Trump’s months of lies about the election and his inflammatory speech to the rally on January 6-- including lines like “if you don’t fight like hell you’re not going to have a country anymore”—led directly to “violent, deadly, destructive and seditious acts.” The article also noted Trump’s attempt to subvert the election through his phone call on January 2, 2021, to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, demanding he “find” enough votes to overturn the results of the presidential election in the state. Including this in the impeachment article will prevent Georgia Governor Brian Kemp from pardoning Trump for it. The article says that Trump is, and will remain, “a threat to national security, democracy, and the Constitution if allowed to remain in office, and has acted in a manner grossly incompatible with self-governance and the rule of law.” He must be removed from office and disqualified from any future positions in the U.S. government."
January 11, 2021 excerpt: "This document and the procedures around it tell us far more than their simplicity suggests. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had announced the day before that the House would take up a resolution, advanced by Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD), that called on Vice President Mike Pence “to convene and mobilize the Cabinet to activate the 25th Amendment to declare the President incapable of executing the duties of his office, after which the Vice President would immediately exercise powers as acting President.” The resolution did not speak to the physical or mental health of the president, but focused on his inability to fulfill his duty to respect the legitimate results of the Presidential election, accept the peaceful transfer of power, protect the people of the United States, and see that the laws be faithfully executed."
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy reportedly snapped after the president told him 'antifa' led the Capitol insurrection: 'It's MAGA. I know. I was there.' Julie Gerstein Tue, January 12, 2021, 3:24 AM EST House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy reportedly snapped after the president told him 'antifa' led the Capitol insurrection: 'It's MAGA. I know. I was there.' excerpt: "Yet Trump allies quickly began speculating. On Thursday, just hours after the Capitol insurrection was quelled, Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida told his fellow members of Congress that "some of the people who breached the Capitol today were not Trump supporters" but instead "were masquerading as Trump supporters and in fact, were members of the violent terrorist group antifa." Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona made similar comments on Twitter, arguing that the insurrection had "all the hallmarks of an antifa provocation," though the FBI found "no indication" that members of antifa were in any way involved in the violent uprising."

Trump calls second impeachment a continuation of a witch hunt. Trump criticizes second impeachment effort
Trump says impeachment is a danger to U.S. Trump is a danger to the U.S. Trump warns impeachment is a danger to U.S. in first public comments since riot
In other words, in Trump's mind, it was a perfect speech. Trump warns impeachment is a danger to U.S. in first public comments since riot excerpt: “People thought what I said was totally appropriate,” Trump told reporters before traveling to Texas, when he was asked what his personal responsibility was for the violence. The riot came after he and his family members urged supporters at a rally to fight with him to reverse Joe Biden’s Electoral College win. Trump again Tuesday used the type of language that critics say fueled the mob, calling the planned impeachment by the Democratic-led House of Representatives “really a continuation of the greatest witch hunt in politics.”
No, by all means he should keep it up. He apparently never heard of the cardinal rule when you've dug yourself into a hole: stop digging. The way things are going, there will probably be another insurrection by the MAGA morons in a few days, and Trump is sticking to his guns that the election was a steal. Assuming this time the forces of sanity will be up to the task, it should be another turning point in which maybe Republicans will join the effort to dump Trump while they have a chance.
I'm not at all sure the inauguration will pass without incident. The crazies are planning lots of incidents, including armed demonstrations in the state capitols and an effort to block people from access to the Capitol. People may get a chance to see the cretins and troglodytes once again in all their simian glory. Good! Maybe it will wake folks up to the subversive presence in our midst. If they try to use their weapons, they're toast!
