trump will tell the judge he can’t go to trial that day, or any day because he will be in Alaska.

Dean is slimy enough to know what he's talking about, but we shall have to wait and see, because Donald Duck should have been locked up decades ago, and neither congress nor the judicial system appear to have much influence anymore.

Texas governor Abbott's removal of the mask mandate and most restrictions went into effect on March 10, about one year after a lockdown was imposed.

Abbott and DeSantis of Florida leaned heavily on Trump's lax approach for addressing the virus. Both seem to be having a political urge to be the first state to totally remove restrictions at the one-year mark of the coronavrus.

Coronavirus: Texas and other states ease rules despite warnings

    excerpt:

"Governor Abbott's announcement was no surprise to Texans. After all, the state's pandemic response has been political from the start.

The state's Republican leadership favoured former President Donald Trump's relatively relaxed approach to imposing restrictions. But that created tension with local officials in the state's major cities, which all lean Democrat.

It was control of the disease vs control of the economy. Mask requirements vs maintaining personal liberties. And when the surges came, state politicians were more reactive than proactive.

A year later, not much has changed. The state's death toll and current case rate are still among the highest in the US. That's why critics say Governor Abbott's decision does not follow the science.

So the decision will be a test to the state - but also to Mr Abbott's relationship with President Biden, who has addressed the pandemic with more urgency than his predecessor."

This is Abbott’s attempt at deflecting criticism of his handling of the power crisis last month.

Arrested Capitol insurrectionist was part of presidential helicopter crew for Marine One

    excerpt:

"According to military records obtained by CNN, John Andries, who was arrested in February for his role in the attack on the U.S. Capitol, had served as part of the crew for Marine One during George W. Bush's administration.

Records show that he "served in the Marine Corps from 2004 to 2009 and was assigned to the Marine Helicopter Squadron One, the unit responsible for transporting the president, also known as HMX-1," said CNN. "Andries was not a pilot, but his records indicate he was a Helicopter Crew Chief."

"Prosecutors say Andries, 35, breached lightly-protected barriers outside the Capitol and entered the building through a broken window," said CNN. "Video footage shows him facing off with police inside the Crypt, in the basement of the complex, getting "within inches" of officers but not physically engaging with them, prosecutors said.""

I wish he would elect to immigrate to Abbottabad in the northwest frontier between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Trump referred to the armed pro-Trump protesters who stormed the MI state capitol in April 2020 as 'very good people'.

A similar incident occurred at the Oregon state capitol after the November 2020 election. Pro-Trump protesters tried to break into the capitol. One of them was carrying a pitchfork.

Trump didn't speak out against either insurrection. Both were precursors to the riot at the U.S. Capitol.

‘Very good people’: Trump backs armed effort to storm Michigan capitol over coronavirus rules

    excerpt:

"One striking photo captured at the event shows a bearded man screaming in the faces of masked Michigan State Police. The image provoked intense backlash on social media, where many described the group as “Michigan terrorists.”"

If you believe Texas gives a crap about anyone's opinion, you missed the opportunity to vote in their elections, and find out who advertised the most. Hell, the governor threatened to secede from the union, until the Mexican cartels let it be known they'd start to take it personally, if he kept up that kind of smack.

    Article from January 7, 2021.

    https://www.usnews.com/news/best-st...lare-unlawful-assembly-at-salem-trump-protest

    excerpt:

"Hundreds of supporters of President Donald Trump — many of them armed — gathered Wednesday at the statehouse and burned a life-size puppet of Gov. Kate Brown, a Democrat, in effigy. Police in riot gear declared an unlawful assembly and cleared the demonstrators by the late afternoon.

One person was arrested on suspicion of harassment and disorderly conduct during the protest. A second man was arrested on trespassing charges after the protest when state troopers found him after nightfall trying to enter the Capitol while armed.

The pro-Trump crowd was rallying around false allegations of election fraud on the same day that that an angry mob stormed the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Some of those in attendance were members of Proud Boys, a far-right wing group.

Prior to the protests, state office buildings around the Capitol were closed as authorities prepared for crowds and potential damage.

Salem has been the site of weekly protests since the November election and has seen violent clashes between pro-Trump demonstrators who falsely believe the election was stolen from him and opponents."

    Two more Trump protesters charged.

Anti-Vaxxer Hubby and Wife Charged After Boasting Online About Capitol Riot

    excerpt:

"A Virginia anti-vaxxer and her realtor husband have been hit with charges for taking part in the Jan. 6 sacking of the U.S. Capitol by a pro-Trump mob. Jessica and Joshua Bustle were identified by tipsters who contacted the FBI with details of Facebook postings implicating themselves, according to a criminal complaint filed in D.C. federal court. In one post before the event, Jessica wrote, “We don’t win this thing sitting on the sidelines. Excited to stand for truth with my fellow patriots and freedom fighters in DC today. Lessss do this.” In a post after the riot, she wrote, “My husband and I spent the majority of our time at the Health Freedom Rally which was a couple of blocks over from the Trump Rally. When we finally decided to head over to the capitol we were let in...like literally, my husband and I just WALKED right in with tons of other people.”"

In contrast to the 9/11 attack, the Capitol rioters were radicalized domestically. They attacked their own country, incited and defended by the President himself as the riot unfolded.

FBI focuses on whether some Capitol rioters intended to harm lawmakers or take hostages

    excerpt:

“This is the greatest threat to our national security since Sept. 11, and a more dangerous, insidious threat, because unlike the attack on Sept. 11, our very democracy is now at stake,” Laufman said. “And there can be no higher priority for the Department of Justice and the FBI than to surge investigative efforts to hold accountable everyone who was responsible for the attack on the U.S. Capitol, including any individuals who incited that attack.”

Laufman said that it was “fair to say that the intentions of every individual among the horde that invaded the Capitol like Visigoths were not uniform.”

“But it does appear, based on what’s in the public record now, that some held malignant intention to do harm to elected representatives, to the physical embodiment of our democracy, to derail the formalization of President-elect Biden’s election,” he said. “And it will take investigative work to parse out who was responsible for what and who held what intentions.”

Officials announced Friday that a recently elected state lawmaker from West Virginia, Derrick Evans, was charged with unlawfully entering restricted grounds after allegedly live-streaming a video of himself on his Facebook page.

“Bring the tear gas. We don’t care,” Evans is heard yelling. “We’re taking this country back, whether you like it or not. Today’s a test run. We’re taking this country back.”

Sen. Rick Scott is visiting RNC headquarters (Mar-a-Lago).

Rick Scott to meet with Trump at Mar-a-Lago

    excerpt:

"Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) is set to meet with former President Trump at his private club in Palm Beach, Fla., this week as top GOP officials scramble to defuse tensions with the former president.

Trump has met with a handful congressional allies at his Mar-a-Lago estate since leaving the White House in January. But the meeting with Scott, the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), comes amid a spat between the former president and the GOP’s political wings over fundraising.

Trump has also stirred worries among some Republicans in recent weeks by threatening to back primary challenges to GOP incumbents who have crossed him."

And yet so many people still support this immature vindictive asshole. If American common sense was a species it would be on the endangered list.

Joshua Black had what appears to be a yellow plastic bullet embedded in his cheek. Apparently he was shot by police officers who were trying to stop the rioters from advancing into the Capitol.

Black is seen with Brock in the Senate chamber along with the QAnon shaman. They didn't seem to know what to do once they finally arrived. Black said the room seemed too small to be the Senate chamber. He sat down and said he was going to call his father. Brock was standing with a set of zip-tie handcuffs. The shaman held a prayer vigil.

Investigators: Alabama man says he joined Capitol riot to 'plead the blood of Jesus'
    Brian Lyman, Montgomery Advertiser
    Published 4:49 p.m. CT Jan. 14, 2021 | Updated 5:09 p.m. CT Jan. 14, 2021

Prosecutors: Joshua Black joined deadly Capitol riot to 'plead the blood of Jesus'

    excerpt:

"The affidavit said Black was identified from photos of him on the floor and through a wound on his left cheek, which he said he had suffered from a projectile. It quotes Black on a YouTube video saying that "once we found out (Vice President Mike) Pence turned on us ... the crowd went crazy."

“We just wanted to get inside the building," the affidavit quotes Black saying. "I wanted to get inside the building so I could plead the blood of Jesus over it. That was my goal.”

Black said he carried a knife with him but "wasn't planning on pulling it."

"I just felt like the spirit of God wanted me to go in the Senate room, you know," the affidavit quotes Black saying. "So I was about to break the glass and I thought, no, this is our house, we don’t act like that. I was tempted to, I’m not gonna lie. Cause I’m pretty upset. You know? They stole my country.”"
