Analysis | Trump is losing the war over his legacy Philip Bump March 29, 2021 at 1:41 p.m. UTC https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...6eP7LrqF09WmoWjsdmvlF3EHG-FlgWG-ZqJn_7cln87Ik excerpt: "Yet Trump is perhaps uniquely poorly positioned to frame his own legacy. Most modern presidents, even controversial ones like George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, have at least enough institutional legitimacy to be seen as reliable interlocutors about their own tenures. One can envision either of them or Barack Obama sitting down alongside a panel of historians at an event hosted by a prominent university, discussing presidential decision-making and its ramifications in good faith. It's quite difficult to imagine Trump doing the same thing, as difficult as it is to imagine his sitting down with someone like NBC News's Lester Holt and offering his honest assessment of his own missteps. Trump spent all of his political capital on trying to stay president, first by constantly misleading the public and, after the 2020 election, by stoking the dishonest claim that his second term had been stolen. Since the moment the U.S. Capitol was first breached on Jan. 6, an event far beyond any acceptable political activity, Trump has repeatedly tried to excuse those who participated — Trump supporters all. Speaking to Fox News’s Laura Ingraham last week, he ridiculously claimed that those who had beaten law enforcement officers and broken windows in a last-ditch attempt to overturn the election results had, in fact, simply been “hugging and kissing the police and the guards” in the facility."
Trump is contending that his lack of ability to access social media like Twitter is better for him. Yet he's talking about starting up his own social media platform. https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...6eP7LrqF09WmoWjsdmvlF3EHG-FlgWG-ZqJn_7cln87Ik excerpt: “So I put out statements now ‘from the office of’ and the statements are picked up by everybody,” he said, referring to tweet-esque news releases that his team occasionally puts out. “I mean, it actually works better.” Of course it doesn’t. The visibility of those statements relies specifically on their being “picked up” by the media, meaning the media has an opportunity to note when their contents deviate from reality. This was the entire reason Trump used to celebrate his Twitter account: It reduced the intermediary role of the press. Now, he relies on the media to propagate what he has to say. The right-wing media will do so uncritically, but no one in that universe has the audience that Trump did, nor are they reaching those who might be persuaded on Trump’s legacy. Trump has floated the idea of building his own social media network, which would certainly help boost his connection to his base, if not reshape how the world views his presidency. (In fact, it would probably just cement those perceptions.) He could write a book, if he could find a publisher willing to weather the outcry, but there’s no reason to think it would be anything other than a hagiographic rehash of “The Art of the Deal.”
Trump alums sign up with new Murkowski opponent excerpt: "Alaska’s state Republican Party censured the 63-year-old Murkowski earlier this month, a rebuke similar to the ones other Republican impeachment backers received back home. But unseating Murkowski, who first assumed office in 2002 and is the daughter of Frank Murkowski, the former senator and governor, won’t be easy. Alaska has implemented a new ranked-choice voting system, with the top four finishers of an all-party August primary advancing to the general election. As a result, Murkowski won’t face the pressure of a Republican primary such as the one she had in 2010, when she lost renomination to a conservative candidate, Joe Miller. Murkowski ultimately waged a successful write-in bid that year and won reelection."

You can't fake professional wrestling, Donald Duck is the GOP. Half the damn party is demanding they trash their own government and install a dictator. There's just not much room for pretending to actually be a political party.
Wow, right in line with all the other stupid things he’s said, and probably the dumbest ever, especially when police were beaten and killed- smh....When thee helllll are they finally going to turn the mic off on this man, and pull the plug on this rhetoric forever?
Eric Trump says he is heartbroken that Biden is spending weekends in Delaware, because (in Eric's mind) Trump supposedly worked so much harder. Maria Bartiromo And Eric Trump Whine About Biden's Weekend Trips To Delaware excerpt: "I don't even know where to begin," Trump replied. "It's heartbreaking to us. I saw how much time and effort my father put into the job." "You know how many times my father went down to the border?" he continued. "Because it's a serious issue that, you know, plagues this country. I mean, you've seen it and you see these children and my father had the issue fixed, Maria." The Fox News host failed to mention that former President Donald Trump played golf 19 times during his first 100 days"
Trump did 19 golf trips during his first hundred days in office after promising during his 2016 campaign to never leave the White House because so much work needed to be done.

Trump rioter arrested while wearing 'I Was There' shirt. Capitol riot suspect arrested while wearing 'I Was There' T-shirt excerpt: "A Dallas man who was arrested in late January and charged with involvement in the riot that overtook the Capitol on Jan. 6 was reportedly wearing a shirt that declared his participation in the siege during his arrest. The Associated Press reported that federal prosecutors wrote in a court filing Monday that Garret Miller was clad in a shirt bearing the message “I Was There, Washington D.C., January 6, 2021,” when he was arrested on Jan. 20. Despite his shirt's apparent admission and evidence submitted by prosecutors Monday indicating that Miller had tweeted "assassinate AOC" at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) in the days following the riot, he reportedly told his mother, "I don’t feel that I’ve done anything wrong and now I’m being locked up." His own statements on social media reportedly contradict that claim, according to federal prosecutors, who wrote in court filings Monday that Miller told a fellow Facebook user “just wanted to incriminate myself a little lol" after being asked "bro you got in?!" in the comments section of a photo Miller posted of himself in the Capitol on the day of the insurrection."
Trump lashes out at Fauci and Birx. Trump lashes out at Fauci and Birx after CNN documentary excerpt: "Fauci said the decision “to go all out and develop a vaccine” was “the best decision that I’ve ever made with regard to an intervention as director of the institute,” referring to his role at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The agency’s vaccine research center helped develop a key component of ultimately successful shots from Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech. But Fauci’s characterization drew Trump’s ire. In his statement on Monday, the ex-president called the vaccines authorized for emergency use “American vaccines,” even though the first vaccine to be authorized in the U.S. by the Food and Drug Administration was developed by the Turkish immigrants who founded BioNTech in Germany, and later collaborated with Pfizer to bring it to market. Pfizer, which manufactures the vaccine, did not receive development money from the government."
What he should have been wearing was a “I was there to stop the steal, but didn’t vote” T-Shirt, because as it turns out nearly 10% of all of the capitol rioters who were arrested didn’t vote in the general election...lol...
