Unfortunately there are those (MORONS!) in Trump's base who will believe what Gaetz is saying. He'll deny all charges and wants the idiots to believe he's a scapegoat, being charged with false claims to punish him for supporting Trump and the big lie.
“Look, you wait ‘til they get to be 20 years old, the only picking that’s going to take place is your pocket. You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16. Make sure that she can cook a meal. You need to eat some meals that she cooks, check that out. Make sure she carries her Bible. That’ll save you a lot of trouble down the road.” Phil Robertson, speaker at the 2016 Republican National Convention, who married his wife when she was 16.
Georgia's GOP lieutenant governor says Rudy Giuliani's false voter fraud claims triggered voting restrictions Catherine Garcia Thu, April 8, 2021, 12:36 AM Georgia's GOP lieutenant governor says Rudy Giuliani's false voter fraud claims triggered voting restrictions excerpt: "Under the new election law, signed by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) last month, it's harder for voters to request and drop off absentee ballots; ballot drop boxes are limited; voters can't be approached and handed food or water while they wait in line to cast their ballots; and the secretary of state is no longer chairman or a voting member of the Georgia State Election Board. During an interview with CNN on Wednesday, Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan (R) said the restrictions are "the fallout from the 10 weeks of misinformation that flew in from former President Donald Trump. I went back over the weekend to really look at where this really started to gain momentum in the legislature, and it was when Rudy Giuliani showed up in a couple of committee rooms and spent hours spreading misinformation and sowing doubt across, you know, hours of testimony."
Georgia had no excuse absentee ballots for 15 years. It ended with the passage of the new voting restriction bill signed by Kemp. The bill also took authority away from the elected secretary of state (currently Raffensperger who refused to overturn the election for Trump) and transferred it to legislators. Georgia bills seek to reduce secretary of state's Election Board power excerpt: "The package is seeking to restrict voter access on a number of fronts such as requiring photo ID for absentee voting, limiting the time in which voter can request absentee ballots, narrowing the locations of ballot drop boxes and reducing early voting hours. The changes would be an unprecedented shift for Georgia, where there has been no-excuse absentee voting for the last 15 years. The push from the Republican-controlled legislature to reduce the power of Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger comes after Democratic upset wins in both the January Senate runoffs and the November election."
For your all-important national convention, you don't choose extremists on the lunatic fringe as speakers. You choose centrists, people who can rally the disparate caucuses of your party, left, right, and center, around one common goal and candidate; someone who passionately believes in and can articulate your party's core values, beliefs, and aspirations. In 2016, the Republican Party chose Phil Robertson to be that guy (pictured above), and then nominated this guy to be their standard-bearer: Don't for a minute think that Gaetz is some sort of aberration; he fully embodies the values of the modern Republican Party.
So the whole QAnon thing is partly correct, it's just looking at the wrong party... It's the Republicans that are the pedophile baby snatchers, not the Democrats... Good to know.
FBI arrests Stephen Horn who helped prosecute himself. https://lawandcrime.com/u-s-capitol...nt-to-accurately-document-u-s-capitol-breach/ excerpt: "A North Carolina man faces four federal charges after two people who knew him spotted his image in a New York Times Magazine social media post and notified the FBI. According to a statement of facts attached to a federal criminal complaint filed Friday, one of the tipsters believed Stephen Ethan Horn, of Wake Forest, “was inside the U.S. Capitol as a journalist, but was not aware of HORN having any media credentials.” The New York Times Magazine post is still online, though viewers have to flip through the several images to find the one which prosecutors say shows Horn: Later, the FBI downloaded a two-hour-long video from Horn’s Facebook page which Horn allegedly recorded while walking through the besieged building. “I was in DC today when the capitol was stormed,” said a post attached to the video."
The type of world to expect when it is run by right-wing popullists like Bolsonaro and Trump. Bolsonaro’s ‘genocidal’ Covid response has led to Brazilian catastrophe, Dilma Rousseff says Tom Phillips in Rio de Janeiro Sat 10 Apr 2021 05.00 EDT Bolsonaro’s ‘genocidal’ Covid response has led to Brazilian catastrophe, Dilma Rousseff says excerpt: "Brazil’s first female president, like a growing number of citizens, believes much of the blame lay with Bolsonaro, a far-right populist whose anti-scientific response to what he calls a “little flu” has made him an international bogeyman. Opinion polls and pot-banging protests suggest growing public anger at the Trump-admiring politician who was elected in 2018 after Rousseff’s mentor, former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, was jailed and prevented from running by a judge who later joined Bolsonaro’s cabinet."
Trump and Bolsonaro have a mentality of relying solely on vaccines (that Trump has claimed are due solely to him so he can score political points for himself) to eventually stop the pandemic. In the meantime, they are encouraging people to gather socially without restraint (to score more political points). The Trump administration released a press statement in November 2020 encouraging everyone to gather at homes and churches for the holidays. The winter surge of deaths in 2021 ensued (which some of Trump's supporters blamed on Biden). The problem with that approach is that the virus spreads readily and mutates within people while the population is waiting to be vaccinated. The variants can potentially reduce the effectiveness of vaccines. Segments of the population that haven't yet been vaccinated are placed at increased risk due to the original virus and variants which may be more contagious and deadly than the original. It makes the battle more difficult, as Brazil is currently learning during its current surge with thousands of coronavirus deaths per day.
Adjusted for population, a death toll of 4,000 in a day like Brazil has experienced recently is like 6,200 in the U.S.
