Well, I must agree. It just sounded silly ... considering the source ...

By Trump's standards he's not that stupid either...

This is why I don’t understand why these republicans tie their cart to trump’s horse. Trump will stab you in the back, in the middle of Times Square, and get away with it.

An old friend of mine back in Colorado told me if you hitch a horse on the front and rear sides of a wagon, it won't get too far. That's what I'm seeing in today's Republican leadership. If they sniff up to people like Jordan, Gaetz, and Trump, and that ignorant Cruz ... well?

Similar to Gaetz who proclaims himself to be law and order, Trump's protesters at the Capitol were rioting with American flags that said Trump Law and Order and beat police officers with the poles of such flags.

Polls show majority of Republicans mistakenly think the 2020 election wasn't legitimate - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"After Trump left the White House in January, Monmouth University asked Americans whether they thought the 2020 election was conducted fairly and confidently. Overall, most (66%) were confident it was.

But the lion's share of Republicans (65%) disagreed and said they were not confident at all the election was conducted fairly and accurately, which is consistent with the Ipsos polling spoken about above. This 65% is truly an anomaly in recent times.

Following every election from 2004 to 2016, the Pew Research Center queried voters on whether they were confident that the votes around the country were counted accurately.

The voters for the losing candidate in those elections had a lot more faith than Trump voters had in the results of the 2020 election. In every election from 2004 to 2016, between 8% and 14% of the voters of the losing candidate said they had no confidence at all that the election was legitimate. In 2016, just 11% of Hillary Clinton voters were not at all confident.

This means Republicans are somewhere between 40 points and 50 points more likely this time around to say they had no confidence in the results than the backers of any losing candidate in recent times.

The big difference this time around is that the losing candidate openly cast doubt on the results over and over again."

Polls show majority of Republicans mistakenly think the 2020 election wasn't legitimate - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"Today, a mere 28% of Republicans say everything should be done to make it easy for citizens to vote. That compares with 71% who say citizens should have to prove they really want to vote.

Back in 2018 (before Trump lost), the split was far closer at 48% of Republicans who believed voting should be made easy as easy as possible to 51% who thought voters should have to prove it.

(Democrats, by comparison, have barely moved on the question with 85% arguing voting should be made as easy as possible. That was 84% in 2018.)

The only thing that has really changed between 2018 and 2021 was the 2020 election."

Trump goes after McConnell, Fauci in off-script Mar-a-Lago speech

    excerpt:

"Trump even said someone recently suggested the vaccine should be called "Trumpcine" because of Operation Warp Speed, which helped accelerate the development of the vaccines last year."

After Trump was elected, people were still questioning whether he was afflicted with narcissism and had hope that he might grow into the job of the presidency.

Someone recently suggested that SARS-CoV-2 should be called the "Trump Virus" because of his intentional acts of sabotage and obstructionism which cost hundreds of thousands of American lives.

Trump was also critical of Pence at the private meeting at Mar-a-Lago.

Pence didn't have the legal authority to single-handedly object to or overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election

A Congressional act allows individual states to object to the presidential election results. The GOP of some of the swing states that Trump lost objected on January 6 during and after Trump's riot at the Capitol.

The attempt on January 6 was insufficient to replace the electoral college result (based on popular vote in each state) with one based on the state legislatures voting with one electoral vote being assigned for each state (what Trump and his supporters were hoping for because states with Republican controlled legislatures outnumber those that Democrats control).

This is how the law works. Trump didn't like it and vented his frustration on Pence on the day of the riot. He's still holding a grudge against Pence which will likely continue indefinitely, like those he has held against many other people (such as the one he is still holding against the editor of Vanity Fair who said in the 1990's that he has small hands).

McConnell enjoys a lot of loyalty in the GOP. Trump has made a mistake.

I would think that taking the time to show up at the voting center is a pretty good indication that they "really want to vote."

    Why bother, otherwise?

'It was horrible': Top GOP donors were disgusted with Trump's RNC speech while others ducked out

    excerpt:

"According to one donor who attended, "It was horrible, it was long and negative," before adding, "It was dour. He didn't talk about the positive things that his administration has done."

Politico also reported that a few donors were spotted out dining elsewhere while the president droned on.

"Many major donors have been fed up with Trump's antics since Jan. 6. While Trump was speaking, we spotted at least two — both of whom received prominent appointments during his administration — out dining with friends at a local restaurant in Palm Beach rather than sitting through the former president's dinner at Mar-a-Lago," Playbook reports."

Perhaps because the list is fairly short.

The corporate tax cut was the only significant legislative passage that Trump signed into law.

He has little to show for trade relations, immigration, education, healthcare reform, race relations, the environment, the coronavirus, voting rights, the national debt, infrastructure, respect for the U.S. on the international stage, and for his left-behinders such as coal miners and farmers.

At the time the guidance was put out (as a recommendation not a directive), there were less than 100 Covid infection cases documented in the US and we were still learning about the virus. That article you posted was dated
20 March 2020. At the beginning of April, the message changed drastically due to realizing how severe this virus was. But the White House leadership failed to adjust, totally ignored the guidance, spread misinformation, made stupid recommendations (I.e. bleach injections-thinking it’s funny- while people were dying),etc., etc.
The previous administration is completely at fault for all of it- and should stand up and take ownership of it.
