And being an ancient crinkly, I still abide by that when using public transport or entering/leaving public premises. I still stand when a lady joins or leaves the table I am sat at and I still help ladies on/off with their coats, and still hold open doors for ladies. I've been criticised for doing so, and been told I'm old fashioned, but I had a strict upbringing and to me, that is just good manners.
