Oklahoma lawmakers name embarrassingly small stretch of highway after Donald Trump -- even though he's not dead

    excerpt:

"Oklahoma lawmakers are as obsessed with former President Donald Trump as most in the Republican Party. Their recent decision to name a stretch of highway after the former president ended up as an embarrassment.

According to the right-leaning Daily Oklahoman newspaper, Gov. Kevin Stitt (R-OK) signed legislation to name a 20-mile stretch of U.S. Route 287 the "President Donald J. Trump Highway." U.S. Route 287 is a massive stretch of road that goes from the Gulf of Mexico to nearly the Canadian border. In Oklahoma, however, the highway barely touches the state, running through the most narrow part of what is known as the "panhandle.""

"Senate Minority Leader Kay Floyd, a Democrat, explained during the vote that the state law requires a person to be dead before naming a highway or bridge in their honor."

I wonder if that highway, and bridge would benefit from an upgrade thru infrastructure funding?

The GOP legislature in Oklahoma can claim it upgraded the infrastructure by naming that stretch of highway after Trump.

I assume his lawyers are demanding their fees up front. Wouldn't you? Must piss him off to be denied the option of not paying.

Trump's longtime ally Roger Stone has warned that the former president must prepare to be indicted for fraud in the coming weeks

Trump's longtime ally Roger Stone has warned that the former president must prepare to be indicted for fraud in the coming weeks

    excerpt:

"Roger Stone, a longtime friend, and erstwhile adviser to Donald Trump believes the former president will face an indictment imminently, Salon reported.

"I would be shocked if they did not come forward with a fabricated indictment for bank fraud or tax fraud against the former president [Donald Trump] by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.," Stone said during an appearance on the far-right InfoWars website.

"If they want to go after the president on fabricated charges, then we will establish that this is a partisan witch hunt," the GOP strategist, who was pardoned by Trump in 2020, told InfoWars host Alex Jones."

Have you seen the fake Mike Lindell on the Jimmy Kimmel Show, funny as hell, almost as funny as the former fake Melania Trump on Stephen Colbert

"Appearing in Dallas at a QAnon conference, Flynn was asked during a Q&A session that was shared in a Twitter video: “I want to know why what happened in Myanmar can’t happen here?”

After cheers from the crowd died down, Flynn responded: “No reason. I mean, it should happen here.”

Ex-Trump adviser Michael Flynn says Myanmar-like coup ‘should happen’ in U.S.

Ex-Trump adviser Michael Flynn says Myanmar-like coup ‘should happen’ in U.S.

    excerpt:

"Myanmar’s military seized power Feb. 1 and imprisoned the country’s democratically elected leaders, on the basis of unproven allegations of voter fraud. At least 800 civilians have died, and thousands have been arrested, in protests that have wracked the Southeast Asian nation in the months that followed.

Supporters of the QAnon conspiracy theory have praised the Myanmar coup and called for the U.S. military to do the same, citing unsubstantiated claims of election fraud.

Flynn, a former Army general, was fired by President Donald Trump in 2017 after less than a month as his national security adviser, after it was revealed that he had lied to Vice President Mike Pence. After pleading guilty to making false statements to the FBI during the Mueller investigation, Flynn moved to withdraw his plea and the Justice Department dropped charges against him. A federal judge ruled the matter be placed on hold, but Trump pardoned Flynn last November before a ruling on whether the Justice Department could drop the criminal case against him."

    2021 Myanmar coup d'état - Wikipedia

    excerpt:

    "Motives

The military's motives for the coup remain unclear. Ostensibly, the military has posited that alleged voter fraud threatened national sovereignty.[72] A few days before the coup, the civilian-appointed Union Election Commission had categorically rejected the military's claims of voter fraud, citing the lack of evidence to support the military's claims of 8.6 million irregularities in voter lists across Myanmar's 314 townships.[73]

The coup may have been driven by the military's goal to preserve its central role in Burmese politics.[74][75] The Defence Services Act imposes a mandatory retirement age of 65 for the Armed Forces' Commander-in-Chief.[76] Min Aung Hlaing, the incumbent, would have been forced to retire on his 65th birthday in July 2021.[76] Further, the Constitution empowers solely the President, in consultation with the National Defence and Security Council, with the authority to appoint Min Aung Hlaing's successor, which could have provided an opportunity for the civilian arm of the government to appoint a more reform-minded military officer as Commander-in-Chief.[76] Hlaing's lack of power would have exposed him to potential prosecution and accountability for alleged war crimes during the Rohingya conflict in various international courts.[77][78] Min Aung Hlaing had also hinted a potential entry into politics as a civilian, after his retirement.[78]

The activist group Justice for Myanmar has also noted the significant financial and business interests of Min Aung Hlaing and his family, as a potential motivating factor for the coup.[79] Min Aung Hlaing oversees two military conglomerates, the Myanmar Economic Corporation (MEC) and Myanma Economic Holdings Limited (MEHL),[80] while his daughter, son, and daughter-in-law have substantial business holdings in the country.[79]"

Thin line between speech and incitement. Saying that to a QAnon audience is risky.

One of the most treasured aspects of 'democracy' is that the people elect the president. Of course, if we adopt the course of action dictated by Trump and his followers, votes from the people will be meaningless. We can throw out all 159 million of them from the last election because it will be the courts.....not the people.....that decide who the president will be. Who you voted for won't count toward anything since all votes would be thrown out in favor of who the judges decide has won.

    Just great, huh?

Interesting that the folks who think this would be a terrific way to settle the 2020 election consider themselves the true 'patriots' of the nation even as they look to deprive us of what we cherish most about being Americans.

That's what I think of Flynn. I also think the GOP is desperate for some sort of drastic relief because they know Trump and Gaetz will be in prison soon. They must think a military take over will give them more pardons.

I have driven it a million time, seems like. You go north on 287 from Stratford Texas, cross into Oklahoma, go through Boise City (Weight Station for truckers and a diesel truck stop and a Dairy Queen) then you continue north to the Colorado line. If I remember right, we only went through 41 miles of Oklahoma.
