Sarasota man facing charges in Jan. 6 Capitol riot

    excerpt:

"SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - A Sarasota man is one of the latest persons indicted in connection with the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, court records show.

The newest federal indictments were handed down last Wednesday and unsealed over the weekend. Four names were added to the list including Joseph Hackett, 51, of Sarasota. In total 17 defendants have now been named in the indictment. Hackett was arrested Friday and booked into the Pinellas County Jail.

An Englewood man, Graydon Young, already in custody in the case, also faces additional charges in this latest court filing -- civil disorder, and aiding and abetting; and tampering with documents or proceedings for deleting his Facebook account.

In this latest indictment, prosecutors say Hackett coordinated planning, travel and actions with others, including entering the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 when a violent mob brutally beat police, destroyed property and sent lawmakers running. Four of the rioters died, including a woman who was shot and killed by police as she tried to break into the House chamber.

A Capitol Police officer collapsed and died after engaging with the protesters, and two officers took their own lives in the days after."

Well, that's their MO. Make outrageous statements then claim they didn't mean it, it was a joke, they "misspoke", etc.
This is how they avoid the repercussions while still getting their message across.

    Works with the rubes.

Now why doesn’t this surprise me?

The five states with the lowest numbers of vaccine doses administered per 100,000 people were Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Wyoming and Arkansas—each of which former President Donald Trump won in November

The five states with the highest number of administered doses per 100,000 residents are Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Hawaii and Maine—each won by current President Joe Biden

Donald Duck started running from the law as a small child, and was so fast, he's still a free man, and destroying the most powerful nation on earth, merely by spouting bullshit.

The Special Grand Jury is expected to be seated for six months, and convening three days a week. so don't expect any action until this fall.

Florida woman arrested in connection with riot at Capitol.

Woman Accused Of Saying Mob 'Coming For' Pelosi Is Arrested In Assault Of Capitol Cop | HuffPost

    excerpt:

"A Florida woman accused of pushing down a police sergeant with a flagpole and threatening to hunt down House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) during the storming of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 has been arrested.

Audrey Ann Southard-Rumsey, 52, of Spring Hill, was taken into custody Wednesday in Florida. She is facing nine charges that include assaulting a federal officer or employee, obstructing law enforcement during civil disorder, obstruction of justice or Congress, disorderly conduct in a Capitol building and engaging in physical violence on Capitol grounds.

She was seen on video pushing against a U.S. Capitol Police sergeant, who said in an interview that she was one of two main agitators in a group at his location in a hallway between Statuary Hall and the Hall of the House of Representatives, an FBI agent wrote in an affidavit signed Tuesday."

Six months indicates a lengthy investigation.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...47911c-bcca-11eb-83e3-0ca705a96ba4_story.html

    excerpt:

"The move indicates that District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr.’s investigation of the former president and his business has reached an advanced stage after more than two years. It suggests, too, that Vance thinks he has found evidence of a crime — if not by Trump, by someone potentially close to him or by his company.

Vance’s investigation is expansive, according to people familiar with the probe and public disclosures made during related litigation. His investigators are scrutinizing Trump’s business practices before he was president, including whether the value of specific properties in the Trump Organization’s real estate portfolio were manipulated in a way that defrauded banks and insurance companies, and if any tax benefits were obtained illegally through unscrupulous asset valuation.

The district attorney also is examining the compensation provided to top Trump Organization executives, people familiar with the matter have said."

If Trump is indicted, he may be forced by his own secret service agents to turn himself in if he refuses.

That would be one of the most unusual perp walks.

Could be. The entire process stinks of how meaningless American elections would become if Trump succeeded in becoming 'reinstated.'

Did you cast a vote for president in 2020? If Trump gets his way, you might as well not have. We could take the 159 million votes cast and toss 'em in the trash since it wouldn't make any difference which candidate got the most votes; all a candidate would need is to have the courts rule in his favor.....and PRESTO!....he (or she) is the president!

Naturally, Republicans wouldn't worry about the destruction of the American electoral system; all they'd care about is having their precious Trump back in the driver's seat. That the Democrats could do the same thing in future elections is something they'd concern themselves with only when it happens.

Meanwhile, the courts could 'reinstate' Trump....or maybe 'appoint' him as president.....or perhaps 'name' him as chief executive........or, how about this? Maybe the two candidates could meet on Election Day and fight it out on the Senate floor. The winner becomes president! (This method should ensure that political parties choose younger candidates in the future.)

At least watching Trump punch it out with Biden would garner amazing media ratings. Trump is younger but Biden is thinner and probably in better shape.

It'd be fun to watch......and if democracy is to be wiped out in one fell swoop, we might as well have some fun watching it go.
