EXPLAINER: Barring Trump from holding office again

    excerpt:

"But impeachment alone won’t prevent Trump from seeking office in the future. Some questions and answers about how Congress might bar Trump from ever seeking federal office again.

    WHAT EXACTLY DOES IMPEACHMENT DO?

Impeachment in the House sets up a trial in the Senate, where a two-thirds majority is required to remove the president from office. Trump has been at this point before, of course. After the House impeached him in late 2019 for his pressure campaign on Ukraine, the Senate voted to acquit. Only one Republican, Mitt Romney of Utah, broke with the GOP.

This time, however, could prove different. McConnell himself said Wednesday he is undecided. Other Republicans are angry, and Trump would presumably be out of office before any vote is taken on whether to convict him. President-elect Joe Biden gets sworn in Jan. 20. With the Senate split 50-50, Democrats and the two independents who caucus with them would need 17 Republicans to join them to convict Trump.

IS TRUMP AUTOMATICALLY BARRED FROM OFFICE IF HE’S CONVICTED?

No, if past is precedent. If the Senate were to convict, lawmakers would take a separate vote on whether to disqualify him from holding future office.

No president has ever been convicted in the Senate and removed from office. But in the case of federal judges who were impeached and removed from office, the Senate has taken a second vote after conviction to determine whether to bar the person from ever holding federal office again.

The bar is lower on that second vote, with only a majority of senators needed to succeed. Then again, because it’s never happened before in the case of a president, a court challenge could follow. Frank Bowman III, a University of Missouri law professor and author of “A History of Impeachment for the Age of Trump,” said it’s his view the lower number of votes makes sense, but it’s not crazy to think that it might be challenged if things got to that point."

    IT'S NOT JUST TRUMP.
In 1968 Nixon secretly negotiated with the North Vietnamese to prolong the Vietnam War to try and gain some political advantage over Hubert Humphrey.
In 1980 Reagan secretly negotiated with the Ayatollah Khomeini to keep American hostages imprisoned in Iran in an attempt to gain some political advantage over Jimmy Carter.
    January 6th, 2021.
All of my life, the Republican Party has been the party of traitors.

Trump wants to blame China for a virus that he says affects virtually nobody.

Trump wants to take all the credit for the development of vaccines for a virus that he says affects virtually nobody.

Donald Trump returns to stage with speech at North Carolina GOP convention

    excerpt:

"Trump said the U.S. and the world should "demand reparations and accountability" from China, adding, "They must pay." He said China should pay countries of the world "a minimum of $10 trillion" for the damage from COVID-19.

Trump's speech came a day after Facebook announced the former president would continue to be banned from using the company's platforms, which includes Instagram, through at least January 2023 -- meaning he will be unable to wield his one-time social media prowess through the 2022 midterm cycle."

Like I said 4 months before the November election,

Trump's greatest concern beyond being indicted if he lost, was everything he did over the past four year would eventually come to light

Trump's chief of staff pressed the Justice Department to investigate the bizarre conspiracy theory that people in Italy meddled in the 2020 election using military satellites

The New York Times first reported Saturday that in emails between December and January to then-acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen, and Mark Meadows, pressed him to investigate the baseless theories that the presidential election was stolen from Trump due to mass fraud or foreign meddling.

Among the claims, Meadows pushed was the bizarre 'Italygate' conspiracy theory. Its supporters invented a narrative that allies of Joe Biden in Italy could flip the result of the election using military satellites.

"Italygate" now wouldn't that make it Pizzagate 2.0............lol...

So, why does Donnie decide to have a rally in friggin Podunk Greenville NC?? The only things there are hogs and and rednecks. The university campus is empty - but maybe that was the reason, fewer people to shout him down.

You could just hear him mocking his audience before the plane touched down..."these fucking rednecks....."

Trump has yet to do a rally in 2021. He did a speech at a CPAC convention in FL and a GOP event in NC. He's scheduled to do a speech at CPAC in TX.

It's a low-risk, soft reentry into his public speeches where he can test the waters and see if it will be worth doing public rallies which have a risk of low attendance.

His restart of rallies after the initial COVID wave in Tulsa, OK in June 2020 was a flop with low attendance. Herman Cain who proudly attended the rally was later diagnosed with COVID and died of it.

Trump speech at the GOP event in NC on June 5, 2021 was another one of his incoherent, 90-minute ramblings.

This time he demanded at least $10 trillion from China as reparations for the coronavirus that he blames China for creating.

Donald Trump endorses NC Rep. Ted Budd for Senate as Lara Trump stands down | Fox News

Budd argues that "Biden is a weak leader who won’t stand up to the radical left," Budd spotlighted that "the U.S. Senate is the last line of defense against becoming a woke, socialist, wasteland. And I’m running to stop that, period."

He also touted his support for former President Donald Trump, saying that he was "so fed up with the liberals' attacks on our faith, our families, and our way of life that I ran for Congress to stand and fight alongside Donald Trump and drain the swamp and take our country back."

Hope this guy goes down in flames!

Trump's truther narratives about the election he lost are approaching the likes of the space-based energy beam weapons that Judy Wood claims 'dustified' the WTC towers.

Trump aide asked DoJ to investigate bizarre ‘Italygate’ claim votes were changed by satellite

Budd and Trump are the swamp.

Their version of 'taking the country back' is Trump's riot at the U.S. Capitol.
