Republican U.S. House member Clyde would say that Klein was just an ordinary tourist on an everyday tour of the Capitol, shoving police officers in the face with a stolen shield to try to break through the police line (which, in Clyde's mind, was unlawfully obstructing the law-abiding tourists)..

Clyde was seen on camera at the House helping police push a large credenza against the door to the House chamber to protect their lives from the ordinary tourists on the day of the riot.

Former State Department Aide Charged In Connection With Capitol Riot

    excerpt:

"In court papers, the FBI describes Klein in the Jan. 6 videos as a "white male with brown hair and distinctive teeth, who was wearing a red 'Make America Great Again' (MAGA) hat, a distinctive green jacket, dark dress pants, and a blue dress shirt."

The FBI says Klein can be seen on surveillance footage from the Capitol on Jan. 6 in a tunnel on the western side of the building using a riot shield against officers who were trying to prevent the mob from entering the complex.

At one point, Klein can be seen "violently" shoving the shield into an officer to try to break the police line. At another point, the court papers say, Klein calls to the crowd trying to breach the line: "we need fresh people, we need fresh people.""

U.S. image among European, Asian partners improves under Biden

    excerpt:

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States' image abroad has improved dramatically since Joe Biden replaced Donald Trump as president, according to a Pew Research Center survey of 12 nations, mainly in Europe and Asia, that was released on Thursday.

The 2021 survey conducted by the nonpartisan research group found a median of 75% of people had confidence in Biden "to do the right thing regarding world affairs," versus 17% who felt that way about Trump in 2020.

A median of 62% had a favorable view of the United States in 2021, up from 34% last year. Those with an unfavorable view fell to 36% this year from 63% last."

I wonder about that every time he is up for re-election. I could be wrong, but I think South Carolina has the largest number of black voters in the country.

What has caused Graham to do a 180? Ten, fifteen years ago he was a more moderate Republican.
If I believed in conspiracies, I would think that trump does have something to blackmail Graham, McConnell, and McCarthy with.

In addition to the lady who supposedly stuffed the machines with tens of thousands of votes for Biden, Trump was regurgitating 'Suitcasegate' as late as January 2, 2021, the day of his pressure call to Raffensperger and four days before his riot at the Capitol.

Trump's call to Raffensperger was littered with a long litany of truther narratives on the web.

PolitiFact - Trump rehashes debunked claim about ‘suitcases’ of ballots in Georgia phone call

    excerpt::

"In an hour-long phone call pressuring Georgia’s secretary of state to overturn the results of the election, President Donald Trump rehashed the debunked claim that election workers in Atlanta were caught on tape secretly counting "suitcases" full of fraudulent ballots behind closed doors.

State and county officials have said the surveillance video Trump mentioned shows normal ballot processing. But Trump stood by his inaccurate version of events during the Jan. 2 call, which was first reported by the Washington Post.

"That was the tape that’s been shown all over the world that makes everybody look bad, you, me and everybody else," Trump said to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a Republican, according to the recording.

In Trump’s telling, the Nov. 3 tape showed that after a "major water main break" at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, where Fulton County election workers were counting ballots, "everybody fled the area."

With Republican election observers gone, the county’s election workers returned, Trump said. They reached under a table and pulled out "suitcases or trunks" full of ballots that were hidden there hours earlier, he said, and they secretly tallied "18,000 ballots, all for (Joe) Biden."

Trump’s story aligns with the false narrative that Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani and his team pushed when they introduced the tape during a Dec. 3 hearing with state legislators."

PolitiFact - Trump rehashes debunked claim about ‘suitcases’ of ballots in Georgia phone call

    excerpt:

"What actually happened, according to Georgia and Fulton County officials, is much different.

Gabriel Sterling, a Republican and Georgia’s voting system implementation manager, has addressed the "suitcases" claim in social media postings, TV interviews, and press conferences since Dec. 4, when he tweeted that the video showed "normal ballot processing."

In a Jan. 4 press conference ahead of Georgia’s runoff Senate election, Sterling spent minutes rebutting Trump’s claim, which he called "thoroughly debunked." The sequence of events he described lined up with what PolitiFact and multiple other fact-checkers have reported."

Trump is still whining about the 2020 election six months later. It has devolved into vague, general accusations.

During his nearly 90-minute speech at the NC GOP event in June 2021, he accused Democrats of using the coronavirus to alter election procedures to commit massive voter fraud that he says made him lose the election.

Imagine being Raffensperger of Georgia and having to listen to Trump for an hour on the phone spouting conspiracy narratives and having the discipline to not laugh and to not become upset.

Trump didn't make a stink about Raffensperger releasing the phone call to the public.

Trump was like a dog with its tail between its legs after the phone call was made public.

To be fair... Part of this is correct.

    He did lose the election.

The rest of it is crap, though.

Trump DOJ seized House Democrats' data from Apple

    excerpt:

"Trump administration officials subpoenaed Apple for data on accounts belonging to at least two Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee, congressional aides and their family members to find who was behind the leaks of classified information, The New York Times reported on Thursday

Committee officials and sources with knowledge of the inquiry told the Times that records belonging to at least a dozen people, including House Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), were seized in 2017 and 2018. Data that belonged to family members, including at least one minor, was also seized.

One source told the Times that Apple turned over metadata and account information, but did not provide photos, emails or other content.

According to the Times, prosecutors under former Attorney General Jeff Sessions were looking to identify sources who were speaking to members of the media about contact between Trump associates and Russia."

Ex-La Habra police chief, 5 other SoCal men arrested and charged in Jan. 6 Capitol riot | KTLA

    excerpt:

"The onetime police chief, a 56-year-old San Clemente resident named Alan Hostetter, is accused of helping mobilize the group through an organization he founded in spring 2020 to oppose COVID-19 restrictions called the American Phoenix Project, according to an indictment from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington.

The other five defendants were identified as:
    • Russell Taylor, 40, of Ladera Ranch
    • Erik Scott Warner, 45, of Menifee
    • Felipe Antonio “Tony” Martinez, 47, of Lake Elsinore
    • Derek Kinnison, 39, of Lake Elsinore
    • Ronald Mele, 51, of Temecula
Investigators say the men conspired with one other, as well as others, to raid the Capitol in an attempt to halt Congress’ certification of presidential election results declaring Joe Biden the victor.

They face charges including conspiracy, obstructing an official proceeding and unlawful entry on restricted building or grounds.

Taylor also faces counts of obstructing law enforcement during a civil disorder and unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon on Capitol grounds, while Warner and Kinnison are additionally charged with tampering with documents or proceedings."
