Florida has most Proud Boys, Oath Keepers facing charges for Jan. 6 riot

    excerpt:

"Florida is tied with Texas for the most individuals facing charges stemming from Jan. 6, with 47 arrests in each state out of the 484 total nationwide, according to a database maintained by USA Today.

And Florida leads all states in arrests of individuals associated with two far right groups – the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys – that were active in breaching the Capitol.

More than 40% of the Oath Keepers arrested on charges stemming from Jan. 6 are from Florida, and about a quarter of the Proud Boys. Floridians arrested include leaders from both groups who are accused of helping to plan the insurrection, which attempted to overturn the 2020 election results that delivered the presidency to Joe Biden over Donald Trump."

Florida has most Proud Boys, Oath Keepers facing charges for Jan. 6 riot

    excerpt:

"Biggs is an Army veteran deployed twice to Iraq and awarded two purple hearts. His attorney said in a court filing that he worked for conservative media outlets, including InfoWars, and struggled with “combat-related PTSD, depression and some related alcohol problems.”

Starting in December, Biggs and other Proud Boys began encouraging members to attend the Jan. 6 demonstration. According to federal documents, Biggs posted a message on the social media site Parler in late December announcing the Proud Boys plans for Jan. 6 and saying its “gonna be epic."

Biggs entered the Capitol through an open door about 50 seconds after another Proud Boy smashed through a window with a shield with a crowd of rioters and opened the door from the inside, according to his indictment. In a video, Biggs said "This is awesome!""

Juneteenth is expected to become national holiday.

Trump had originally scheduled the resumption of his campaign rallies on Juneteenth 2020 after the spring wave of COVID had subsided. He rescheduled the Tulsa rally to be held a day later.

Senate passes bill to establish Juneteenth as a national holiday

    excerpt:

"The Senate passed a bill Tuesday to establish Juneteenth, the day marking the end of slavery in the United States, as a national holiday.

After passing by unanimous consent, the bill now heads to the House of Representatives, where its passage is all but assured, then on to President Biden’s desk for signature into law.

Celebrated on June 19, Juneteenth, or Freedom Day, recognizes and marks the emancipation of formerly enslaved African Americans, commemorating the date in 1865 when slaves in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom."

The infamous Tulsa rally precipitated unfortunate events.

It was attended by Herman Cain. About a week after the rally, he was diagnosed with COVID and died of it in late July.

In addition to the death of Cain, Trump's Tulsa rally was also known for precipitating the arrest of Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale. Upset with the low attendance at the Tulsa rally, Trump fired him.

In a distraught state because of the way Trump treated him, Pascale was later arrested at his home in Florida after his wife said he was behaving abnormally and heard what she thought was a gun shot in his room.

Pascale later said that he was hurt by Trump firing him and without notice.

Trump Organization finance chief Weisselberg could face charges as soon as this summer: report

    excerpt:

"Allen Weisselberg, the chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, the family business of Donald Trump, the former U.S. president, could face charges stemming from a criminal tax investigation before the summer is out, the New York Times is reporting late Tuesday. The Manhattan district attorney's office, the paper reports, looks to have entered the closing stages of the investigation, with a grand jury reportedly having heard evidence concerning Weisselberg in recent weeks. Prospective charges against the CFO, should they be pursued, would likely relate to the reporting of valuable noncash payments to Weisselberg, and possibly family members, for income-tax purposes, according to reports. It has also been widely reported that New York prosecutors have sought Weisselberg's cooperation in its wider investigation of the business itself and the former president in exchange for more lenient treatment."

    Pure insanity is correct.......................

Trump Pressed The Justice Department To Reverse The Election Results, Documents Show

The newly released emails highlight multiple conspiracy theories surrounding election fraud pushed by then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. On Dec. 30, 2020, Meadows emailed Rosen a translation of a document that alleged there was a plot in which U.S. election data was altered in Italian facilities and loaded onto "military satellites" and that Trump was "clearly the winner."

After Meadows sent Rosen a YouTube link on Jan. 1 detailing the conspiracy theory, Rosen forwarded the email to then-acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue, who replied: "Pure insanity."

The documents also highlight how Trump used official White House channels, along with a private attorney, to hound the Justice Department to file a lawsuit in the Supreme Court with the aim of having the court declare that the Electoral College vote counts in six states that Trump lost could not be tallied. The draft complaint — circulated by Trump's White House assistant to Rosen, Donoghue and Acting Solicitor General Jeffrey Wall — requested that the court order a "special election" for president in those six states.

In that video, Jim Jordan of Ohio said that the real problem that needs to be investigated is insubordination of Trump's officials who wouldn't go along with his attempt to overturn the election.

That's similar to saying that the real issue with Nixon and Watergate was that Ruckelshaus and Richardson didn't obey Nixon in his attempt to stop the investigation.

Ruckelshaus and Richardson were essentially forced by Nixon to resign. Robert Bork later fired Watergate investigator Archibald Cox.

None of them will ever see prison time. If so, it will be Martha Stuart style prison. His version of prison would be the Montgomery Alabama Hilton and a salad bar.

‘You’re sick, Paul’: Adam Kinzinger attacks GOP colleague in Congress for claiming Capitol rioter was ‘executed’
‘Truth is, Ashli was manipulated by people like you’, says GOP colleague amid attacks on Capitol police by Trump-backers

Adam Kinzinger attacks GOP colleague in Congress for claiming Capitol rioter was ‘executed’

    excerpt:

US rep Paul Gosar has been accused of “manipulating” people like Ashli Babbitt, the woman who was killed in the Capitol riot, after the GOP congressman claimed she was “executed”.

Mr Gosar told a hearing on Tuesday that Ms Babbitt had been “executed” by an unidentified officer from the Capitol Police Department, who he said “appeared to be hiding” before firing at her in a hallway of Congress.

The comments immediately fell foul of Adam Kinzinger who called his GOP colleague “sick” for “manipulating” the GOP’s base with false allegations. As did others.

“You’re sick Paul, sadly,” tweeted Mr Kinzinger on Tuesday. “Truth is, Ashli was manipulated by people like you”.

“[She] breached an area and put lives in danger despite being repeatedly warned not to. The real criminals are the liars abusing people for political power,” the congressman added."

Republicans move to block inquiry into Trump DoJ’s secret data seizure

    excerpt:

"Top Republicans are moving to block a Senate inquiry into the Trump justice department’s secret seizure of data from Democrats to hunt down leaks of classified information, fearing a close investigation could damage the former president.

Trump, who is facing a mounting crisis of legal problems and political criticism, still wields huge power among Republicans, and has hinted recently at a return run for the White House.

In fiery remarks, the Republican Senate minority leader, Mitch McConnell, criticized the rapidly expanding congressional inquiries as unnecessary and accused Democrats of embarking on “politically motivated investigations”.

“I am confident that the existing inquiry will uncover the truth,” said McConnell. “There is no need for a partisan circus here in Congress.”

The forceful pushback from McConnell shows his alarm about the latest aggressive move by Democrats to engage in retrospective oversight that could expose Trump for misusing the vast power of the federal government to pursue his political enemies."
