Voting discrepancies were higher in 2016 in the Detroit precincts when Trump won. He didn't complain in 2016.

Some of Trump's supporters wanted to discard votes within particular Detroit precincts where Biden won by very large margins.

President Trump attacked the voting process in key states around the country as corrupt and rigged in an unprecedented attempt to overturn the results.

He and his legal advisers have fixated on the predominantly Black city of Detroit, where 94 percent of the roughly 250,000 votes went for Biden. “It changes the result of the election in Michigan if you take out Wayne County,” Rudolph W. Giuliani, Trump’s personal attorney, said last week at a news conference in Washington.

 

In the 2020 election, Biden won Wayne County, MI, which contains Detroit, by 333,000 votes over Trump. Biden won Michigan by about 155,000 votes. That's a very large number of votes to try to discard to make Trump the winner.

It shows Trump's tenacity to overturn an election.

Trump apparently made personal contact with some of the GOP canvassers in MI and convinced them to rescind their certification of the election.

Trump also met personally at the White House with two MI state legislators from MI, Shirkey and Chatfield, to try to convince them to overturn the MI election and assign their own slate of electors for the presidential election.

Trump eventually withdrew his federal suit over Michigan's election result.

But with the former Trump attorneys general Bill Barr and Jeff Sessions denying any knowledge of the subpoenas, Democrats are focused on whether rogue officials abused the vast power of the federal government to target Trump’s perceived political opponents, the source said."

Like Ohio, Michigan was once considered moderate and pragmatic but has become plagued with groups promoting truther narratives.
