Mitch McConnell is very sorry that his constituents are getting money now

    excerpt:

"Nevertheless, Mitch is only human, and even he sometimes stuffs his foot so far in his mouth that he knows what his heel tastes like. Like this week, when he stood up in front of a group of his fellow Kentuckians and courageously took credit for trying to keep money out of their pockets.

Speaking in the city of Murray, Kentucky, about the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan signed into law by President Biden this spring, McConnell downplayed the massive bill, saying it "passed on a straight party-line vote."

"Not a single member of my party voted for it," he added. And then came the footsy-mouthy part:

"So you’re going to get a lot more money. I didn't vote for it, but you’re going to get a lot more money. Cities and counties in Kentucky will get close to $700 or $800 million. If you add up the total amount that will come into our state: $4 billion.""

They neglected to mention his problem with passing gas.

His appearance with Melissa Carone at the Michigan election hearing could have been used for a commercial for Gas-X.

Trump wasn't just an abnormal figure — psychiatrists say his rhetoric caused real trauma
Several psychiatrists spoke with Salon about the very real trauma Trump's presidency caused
    By Matthew Rozsa

Psychiatrists say Trump's rhetoric caused real trauma

    excerpt:

"Similarly, although with somewhat different content, Trump's constant 'redefining of reality' to meet his needs of the moment, often with minimal connection with objective reality or in direct contradiction of facts, and not infrequently even internally inconsistent (Just last week: From 'No one knows more about taxes than me' to 'No one really knows about taxes') is traumatizing," Reiss said. "Again, agree or disagree, these statements are at best discombobulating, if not overtly traumatizing (i.e., 'gaslighting'). Even if a person supports Trump, the constant fluctuations of his definition of reality is disorganizing and anxiety-provoking — and then ties into triggering anger at others who do not support whichever point of view you adopt."

Saltz had a similar observation, explaining that "when a leader makes statements that deny reality, enforce that only news they agree with is real news and all else is fake news can further the trauma for those people who are living with the difficult consequences of their reality. So to be in terrible struggle and then have the leader, the person in charge, say it is not your reality can only add to trauma."

She compared Trump to other world leaders who have traumatized people — including Iraq's Saddam Hussein, Cuba's Fidel Castro, the Soviet Union's Joseph Stalin and Spain's Francisco Franco — arguing that "the very essence of trauma is believing that your life or future life has been put at real risk, that you experience living through an utterly frightening and dangerous time that is not typical for the human experience of feeling safe and having some security.""

Trump said he was the ultimate expert on taxes. Now he is having trouble understanding them.

Trump Once Bragged of His Tax Code Knowledge. Now He Says It’s Confusing as He Appears to Acknowledge Schemes.

    excerpt:

"On the campaign trail and while he was in the White House, former President Donald Trump repeatedly said he was smart for paying as little taxes as possible. And he often bragged about knowing the tax code so well that he could use it to his advantage. In a 2017 interview with the New York Times, for example, Trump bragged: “I know the details of taxes better than anybody. Better than the greatest C.P.A.” It was quite a different story Saturday night in Florida, where Trump held his second rally since leaving office.

Thousands of Trump’s supporters braved the rain to hear the former president speak mere days after the Manhattan district attorney’s office unveiled criminal charges against the Trump Organization and its chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg. The charges center on allegations that taxes weren’t paid on numerous benefits that Weisselberg and other Trump Organization executives received. Trump addressed those charges on Saturday night, appearing to acknowledge the existence of tax schemes but claiming it was all very confusing and no one really understands what’s allowed anyway."

Trump remark at his Florida rally on July 3, 2021:

“You didn’t pay tax on the car or a company apartment. You used an apartment because you need an apartment because you have to travel too far where your house is. You didn’t pay tax. Or education for your grandchildren. I don’t even know. Do you have to? Does anybody know the answer to that stuff?”

Trump is the same as Kevin Trudeau who was sent to jail for not paying millions in fines.

Trudeau once sold memory aids on TV and billed himself as the memory expert.

Later, when a judge asked him where he put his money so that his fines could be paid, Trudeau said he couldn't remember.

“There’s Going to Be a Blowup”: Trump and DeSantis Are on a Collision Course
In public it’s all smiles, but behind the scenes, Republicans are already preparing themselves for a showdown between former president Donald Trump and Florida governor Ron DeSantis.

“There’s Going to Be a Blowup”: Trump and DeSantis Are on a Collision Course

    excerpt:

"In recent days I spoke with a half dozen GOP insiders about the recent flare-ups between DeSantis’s and Trump’s camps. The sources agreed that DeSantis and Trump are on an inevitable collision course as the 2024 GOP field takes shape. “There’s going to be a blowup,” a prominent Republican said. “Trump fucking hates DeSantis. He just resents his popularity,” a Trump confidant told me. Asked for comment, Trump spokesperson Liz Harrington said: “Governor DeSantis has shown great respect.”

Part of Trump’s irritation with DeSantis is that Trump famously claims credit for anyone in his orbit who gains attention. “Trump tells people, ‘I made Ron,’” the prominent Republican said. “Trump says that about a lot of people. But in this case it’s actually true.” According to sources, then congressman DeSantis cultivated Trump’s support during the 2018 gubernatorial primary by hanging out at Trump’s Washington, D.C., hotel. “Ron basically ran his primary campaign out of the hotel. He buttonholed Trump supporters and his friends,” the prominent Republican said."

Not to be confused with actually being smart.

"Right Wing Pastor" should lose his tax exempt status right now...

And it should be retroactive to the day he first claimed tax exempt.

DeSantis parts with Trump in response to Surfside tragedy

    excerpt:

"SURFSIDE, Fla. (AP) — When the coronavirus ravaged Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis defiantly bucked mask mandates. He later cracked down on protesters advocating racial justice, blasted President Joe Biden on immigration, jumped into the fight over transgender athletes and signed sweeping legislation to toughen voting rules.

But after a deadly building collapse, the Republican governor is largely hitting pause on the culture wars.

In the two weeks since a 12-story condo tower in this coastal community suddenly crumbled, killing at least 78 people, DeSantis has stood somberly with local officials, including Democrats, as they assessed the damage. He nodded in agreement when Biden visited and hailed their joint appearance as a sign that those with opposing political views can work together in a crisis. And he even skipped a rally in Sarasota headlined by former President Donald Trump, whose early endorsement was crucial in helping DeSantis win the governor's race in 2018."
