I am just curious as what to expect. Do you wear name tags with "Bi-Curious" or another category? is it random, is there a speaker? How does it work? What's the atmosphere?

I went to a LGBTQ meet in a bar in Inverness once, Highland region association; really a bit of curiosity and, being me, to see if any nice guys to hook up with.

Was totally boring I'm afraid, the group was identified in advance by a toy statue on the table. I think it was fairly newly formed group and there were about eight of us; think it was their second or third meeting.

I'm afraid I am far too concerned with the sexual hook-up possibilities whereas my impression is that many of such groups are for people accepting and coming to terms with their sexuality and the cultural aspects. Great for people that have problems with their identity and want support of like- orientated folk etc.

And now years on I don't feel the need to be labelled in any way, I am who I am and my sexuality or how I live it is my affair....in that way I have never felt either the need or desire to attend an LGBTQI pride parade.

But for many, esp some younger more insecure folk I'm sure they are good and helpful support.

    Simon :)

Thanks Simon. Do you think it might be a good place to meet like minded people?

I have been to several events. Each was different. In one, for Pride Week a couple of years ago (pre-covid), people wore buttons with the appropriate Pride flag for their persuasion, and/or buttons with their pronouns. I have been to events with speakers, events that were support groups, and events that were purely social gatherings. Each one is whatever the organizers and participants want to make it.

There are numerous GLBT___ meetups on MeetUp. They generally conduct sessions via ZOOM. Topics vary. I used to go to a rap group once a month sponsored by an organization that was supportive of the HIV+ community. I'm not, but the group was fun.
