Fractal burning is when you use a power source to send electricity through an object, burning in a lightening type pattern. Often done with jumper cables to large pieces of wood as noted by arizonacook.

I have these pictures because I am intending on trying it with something I had grown in my garden, it is not wood. It grew on a vine, I let it dry out over winter, I cleaned it and brought it inside for making crafts.

 

I've seen people do that then fill in with colored resin

 

I have seen what I think is mold travel across wood like that. Kind of fuzzy and leaving a trail behind it. Not saying that is what it is. Hummm
