‘Terrifying for American democracy’: is Trump planning for a 2024 coup? excerpt: "So far 24 of the bills have been passed into law. They include a new voting law in Georgia that came into effect in August which the New York Times described as “a breathtaking assertion of partisan power in elections”. The law tightens the grip of Republican lawmakers over the election board that oversees the vote count. It removes Raffensperger from his seat as chair of the board, which means that even if he survives next year’s challenge by Hice he will still have his wings clipped. Under the law, the newly Republican-dominated election board gains the power to suspend county election officials. That is being seen as a thinly disguised power grab over the election processes of Fulton county, an area covering the heavily Democratic and majority-Black city of Atlanta. Fulton county was seminal in handing victory to Biden. It also gave the edge to Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, in senatorial races that swung control of the US Senate to the Democratic party. “Late at night during the passing of the voter bill in Georgia, Republicans snuck in a provision that could have the most devastating impact,” Waldman said. “It changes the rules of who gets to count the votes, taking away the power of the secretary of state and taking over county election processes on very flimsy grounds.”"
Bill Maher, obnoxious as he is, had it right when he said Trump would not leave office in January... look at the coup he tried to pull off. Now Maher is saying what is obvious... he is going to get re-elected, and if you thought his first term was a shit show, just wait.
Three GOP U.S. senators changed their minds after Trump's insurrection at the Capitol and didn't object to the electoral slate. Trump damaged himself with the riot. GOP Sens. Loeffler, Daines, Braun shift, say they won’t object to Biden electors after pro-Trump attack on Capitol AP News January 6, 2021 GOP Sens. Loeffler, Daines, Braun shift, say they won't object to Biden electors after pro-Trump attack on Capitol
But will the military support such a coup? If not then we could see him removed by force, then I hope the military will re-install Biden or whoever else actually won the election.
Who? Maher or Trump? T seems more energetic than ever... M seems to be on one of those rants against anyone who is on office. He can be quite disappointing. He seems to focus on only the sensational (for ratings obviously) and has himself become obnoxiously rich. Would he really be glad to pay more tax? Or is that something he just 'said' to make people happier with his wealth (currently at $140 million and getting paid $10 million per year from HBO). One way or another they are beginning to sound alike to my ears, pedantically insufferable with the smirk permanently plastered on their faces.
Trump aims to oust 'RINOs, sell-outs' who voted for infrastructure with 3 notable exceptions excerpt: "Reps. Rice, Meijer and Herrera Beutler were on the list despite voting against infrastructure. Trump did not explain why three House Republicans - Reps. Nicole Malliotakis, Jeff Van Drew, and Brian Fitzpatrick - were not included on the list despite voting for the bill. "You will have my backing!" he told prospective candidates willing to primary the incumbents. "Gonzalez, Kinzinger, and Reed already QUIT, they are out of politics, hopefully for good. Warmonger Liz Cheney (challenge accepted) is on the SKIDS with a 19% approval rating.""
Infuriating to Trump is being placed in a public position where he is asked to admit that he would concede an election. Trump exploded at journalist Jeff Mason on Thanksgiving Day who politely and repeatedly asked Trump if he would concede the 2020 election after the recounts failed. Trump rambled on and on to avoid the question. The exchange ended with Trump exploding at his little desk with the two undecorated Christmas trees beside him. The grand finale for Trump was when he blurted out 'we will never concede' during his January 6 speech as his riot at the Capitol was starting.
My main thought when trump is in the news for some anti democratic , ridiculous statement is always : WHO THE FUCK DOES HE THINK HE IS???
Anti-vaccine doctor who called mask wearing "dangerous" dies of COVID-19 By Jenni Fink 11/11/21 at 10:18 AM EST Anti-vaccine doctor who called mask wearing "dangerous" dies of COVID-19 excerpt: "Dr. Christopher Foley, who criticized mask-wearing and spread false information about a COVID-19 vaccine, passed away from complications of the virus. The Minnesota doctor pushed back against continued use of masks, writing on his company website that they are "downright dangerous" if worn for extended periods of time. He was also critical of the vaccine, calling it a "human experiment" and advocated for the widespread use of ivermectin and vitamins to cure COVID-19. Foley's obituary said he passed away from an "unexpected illness," but his son, Logan Foley, confirmed at his funeral that his death was the result of complications from COVID-19. "Was he vaccinated? No, he was not," Logan said. "If he'd only been vaccinated, wouldn't he still be here? Obviously, we'll never know."
Problems with the public believing conspiracy narratives can become intractable when people like medical doctors and a president like Trump instill the misinformation. Dr. Christopher Foley is dead - Obituary 2021 - cause of death excerpt: "A new public opinion data from the Kaiser Family Foundation’s vaccine monitoring agency shows that more than 78% of American adults surveyed believe in at least one of the eight COVID-19 vaccine conspiracy theories. The poll also found that 64% of unvaccinated adults believe or are not sure about at least four of the eight false vaccine claims. In contrast, only 19% of vaccinated adults believe or are not sure about half of the eight false theories."
Well … try as I might, … I cannot support the anti-Trump rhetoric. With the present group in office for only 10 months, the impact of the new policies has had a negative impact on all Americans. Try to be objective, not totally negative. We are all in the same boat.
