I grew up in Henley-on-Thames. In those days it was not as toffee nosed as it is these days. Anyway a bap would be served with a substantial sandwich filling. A bread roll you would get as an accompaniment at a posh restaurant.
Oh near to my birthplace Windsor No bread is served these days. In fact very few British restuarants.
