Took me a while as usual but here I am.

I've been on Hipforums for over 20 years, starting back when it was Hippyland. There are a number of things I do to maintain my relative sanity, and venting here is one of them.

This site has been a haven for me, a place to speak out against the insanity we face and to praise what's good in this world. It has seen me through 9/11 and the rest of the Bush years, the backlash against the Obama years and finally (shudder) through the Trump years.

Now it's seeing me through a stubborn pandemic, environmental chaos and the backlash against Biden, who's trying to repair a badly damaged system and experiencing partisan resistance at every step.

I've also gotten into several new threads which challenge me creatively, thank you Candy Gal. Keep letting me know if there's a thread you'd like me to check out.

 

You all are causing me to tear up over here.


I reflect on a lot. I may start posting regularly again if I can. I need a creative outlet and free hosting for my thoughts. Missed this place

 

Don't believe in looking back only forward......

 

Not looking backwards per se, but knowing and remembering what has happened in the past, helps us from repeating the same mistakes we have previously made.

if the looking is with your own eyes, this may be partially true, but the lies historians tell children, contribute nothing to the purpose, often even at least partially to blame for the opposite effect.
(in america we now have our own "guy fucs" day. yesterday was its first anniversary (guy trump day. i know its not the same, but in a kind of twisted way, close enough))

 

I was thinking how much support we all got on HIP during the lockdown and this awful pandemic.

 

like it says in the guide:"mostly harmless".
and this is a good thing.
