Federal fraud case against Trump's fake electors revealed in documents

    excerpt:

"Speaking to Rachel Maddow, Wu explained that these federal probes add to state investigations and two attorneys general referring the fake electors to the Justice Department.

"This actually came as part of the public records request that you mentioned earlier, that I had filed with all of these different state secretaries of state offices," Wu explained. "And I came across emails from an official in the Inspector General's Office in the National Archives, who was asking the state officials in Arizona about these sovereign citizen electors, and saying that they were pursuing the case of election fraud and other kinds of misconduct."

He went on to say that when he asked the Archives about the matter that they declined to comment as it is an ongoing investigation.

Wu said that what stood out about the so-called sovereign citizens is that they used the official Arizona seal to make the documents look legitimate. That then prompted the state to send a cease and desist letter to their group."

Some in the GOP seem to be unaware that people can make public records requests to obtain documents that may reveal corrupt behavior.

An example is the GOP state legislature in AZ that is now in a bind because it has been ordered by a court to produce documents that are somewhere in the hands of the now-defunct Cyber Ninjas.

Another is the fake electors ploy perpetrated by various GOP members in the swing states Trump lost that was revealed by records requests.

    Violence at the Peace Circle.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area has a high prevalence of Trump's rioters.

Trump aides facing subpoenas from the Jan. 6 committee are lining up for handouts from a conservative legal defense fund — but there's a catch to receive funding

    excerpt:

"According to the First Amendment Fund's website, it was set up to "defend US citizens from unconstitutional overreach," and protect "those who are in the cross hairs of the corrupt January 6 committee and others who are threatened by political persecution due to their beliefs."

Organization chair Matt Schlapp told CNN the fund has raised "over seven figures" from donors. But there's a catch: the final call on who can and cannot use cash from the fund is decided "in communication with (Trump's) team" and is contingent on whether they cooperate with the January 6 panel investigating the Capitol riot, said Schlapp."

So, I haven’t read the article- but, has anyone been able to use the fund at all? I would assume “no” since the funding has reached over seven figures- which means ALL FOR TRUMP!!!!
He’s recouping all his business losses by creating more cons and schemes to continue to sucker more money from his loyalists. When will these folks wake the hell up?

Eastman invokes the 5th Amendment 146 times.

Jan. 6 panel: Lawyer behind Trump election memos invoked 5th Amendment 146 times

    excerpt:

"John Eastman, the conservative law professor who authored memos outlining how President Trump could overturn the results of the 2020 election, invoked his Fifth Amendment rights 146 times when he was questioned by the Jan. 6 committee last month, a lawyer for the panel revealed late Monday.

The disclosure came in a court hearing before U.S. Judge David Carter in Santa Ana, Calif., on Eastman’s lawsuit to block a subpoena from the committee directing Chapman University — where he previously worked as a professor — to turn over more than 19,000 emails relating to his work for Trump in the months following the Nov. 3, 2020, election."

Jan. 6 panel: Lawyer behind Trump election memos invoked 5th Amendment 146 times

    excerpt:

"But Eastman’s argument suffered a blow when the lawyer for Chapman University, whose computer hosts the emails, told the judge that the professor had no right to use the university email system for his representation of Trump because it was partisan work on behalf of a political candidate — a violation of the university’s status as a nonprofit."

Jan. 6 panel: Lawyer behind Trump election memos invoked 5th Amendment 146 times

    excerpt:

"Any use by Eastman of Chapman emails on behalf of Trump was “improper” and “unauthorized,” said Fred Plevin, a lawyer for Chapman. “I liken [it] to contraband,” he added.

Once a law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, Eastman appears to have played a central role in developing strategies for Trump to cling to office even though state electoral boards had affirmed Biden’s victory in the election. In addition to speaking at the Jan. 6 “Stop the Steal” rally along with Trump, Rudy Giuliani and Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks, Eastman also testified before a Georgia legislative committee urging it to reject Biden’s win in that state."

The lengths that Trump went through to try to stay in power that late in the game are dumbfounding.

    Why dictators love elections

    excerpt:

"The proliferation of autocrats who love to stage presidential elections is a surprising political phenomenon. Of course, we’re not talking about free and fair elections that a dictator might lose. Oh no. What they want is an exercise that gives off the illusion – or at least the passing aroma – of democracy, but where their victory is securely guaranteed. And the strange thing is that, even though people both inside and outside the country know it’s all a sham, autocrats near and far continue to put on these threadbare electoral shows.

Rigged elections have a long history. Saddam Hussein, Muammar Gaddafi, or the leaders of the Soviet Union and its satellites loved to hold elections they would always win with 99% of the votes, or, when it was tight, 96.6%. More recently, the likes of North Korea’s tyrant Kim Jong-un, Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela, Vladimir Putin in Russia, and Aleksandr Lukashenko in Belarus, have all “won” fraudulent elections.

An extreme case of these is Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua. A few years back he argued before the Nicaraguan Supreme Court that term limits injured his fundamental human rights. This absurdity was accepted by the justices who, obviously, were his lackeys. Inevitably, the international courts that considered this aspiration declared it void. That didn’t stop Ortega. In 2011, the president violated the Constitution and ran for a third term. He won that election using all sorts of tricks and traps. A few weeks ago he did it again. He was declared the overwhelming winner, making him president for an unprecedented fourth term."
