The Ukraine Crisis Part 1 The initial Battles

Just now saw on CNN an interview with young (30-ish) member of Ukraine's parliament. He made some intelligent and cogent points. One quote was. "We don't need your boots and troops, just give us the tools and we will repel the invaders."

Then he said, "I had no military training before this, but (he held up an assault-type rifle) I now know how this works and how to use it."

Some brave people over there. And we have yet to see what all those Molotov Cocktail bottles they've been making are going to do to ground troops.

The problem I see is Putins actions and the more atrocities he causes will cause a wave of Russo Phobia .

The middle armoured vehicle at the bottom is more evidence that the Russians are using the TOS1 Thermobaric Rocket launchers . I have seen pictures before and made previous comments,but none have been confirmed as being in the Ukraine . These are nasty and when used the rockets when they land on their target not only do you get the explosive qualities but the suck all the oxygen around them causing a horrible death to those nearby. Think of it as a nuclear explosion but without the but without the radioactive contamination . To use these in civilian built area is illegal and against the Geneva Convention . Another example of atrocities .

 

With encirclement of the Capital slowly tightening like a noose around a neck ,in my opinion now is the time to get the Ukrainian President out of the city . Putin will want him dead for sure as he rallies the people together to fight against the invaders . He will be seen also as a catalyst to get support from the West .
I have no doubt Putin wants him removed permanently .

Going off the old Soviet Doctrine the Russians will blitz the capital on a scale we havnt yet seen . This will be their priority now on a stalling campaign .

With the talk of chemical weapons by Western Leaders and Media , I cant rule out their use . They used them in Syria and their usual tactic is to find "evidence" and publicise it . They then use them and blame the other side. This will be another notch towards WW3 as I feel the West will react and this for me is where the "Red Line" is drawn .

This is an interesting unit of the Ukrainian Army . It was originally set up with Georgian volunteers sympathetic to the Ukrainian cause and fought well in the 2014 war.

In an interview with the Legions Commander it became a bit of an "Oops" moment . He commented that they did have some British professional servicemen amongst their number and when asked for details he kind of back tracked . I found that quite hilarious .

The MOD have placed a wanted notice on 4 squaddies that went AWOL and went to the Ukraine to fight . Whilst I admire the courage of these guys ,they are so fricken stupid at the same time . Baiscally they have a one way ticket now . If they return to the UK they will be arrested and serve a Court Martial .Upon sentencing they will serve a prison sentence followed by a dishonourable discharge . Finding a job once released could then be most difficult .If they get captured by the Russians and still have their British military passes with them ,then this could escalate things .

Going back to the Legion ,it has around 300 Brits serving with many being veterans of the British Armed Services. There are a similar number of Americans including some former marines . Truly an elite unit with members from all over the world . They have been fighting in an undisclosed location and very successfully with only one minor casualty .

This crisis reminds me of the original film of Planet Of The Apes.
It is where Charlton Heston is riding along the beach sands and he comes across The Statue Statue Of Liberty Liberty half buried in the sands.
He gets off his horse.
He looks up at the statue, and falls on his knees saying:

YOU FINALLY REALLY DID IT!
YOU MURDERERS.
YOU BLEW IT UP
OH! DAMN YOU
GOD.
DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!

This referring to after an obvious nuclear war.
I hope for all our sake that the scene scenario never happens.
But hand on heart.
I cannot be sure that it never will.
Particularly with Putin having his finger poised over the nuclear buttons!

I was wondering about this. Any foreign mercenaries that are killed or captured could be an excuse for Putin to say that the west was engaged in the war.

I worry which would be better, a dead President in Kyiv who fought to the end, or a President 600 miles away, but is still alive and organizing support to the the population?

That's a tough choice for Zelensky. Emotion or logic.

 

All war's or conflicts have had mercenaries fighting since the beginning of time, capturing a mercenary with a drivers license, home address is not happening.

Just like the soldiers while in combat, the wallet stays at the base.

You don’t want the enemy having your family’s information or address.

we are watching a huge game slowly putting pieces in place for world domination

what they show us in the media is information they feed us as a distraction

these are mostly predictions as I do not like politics and cannot define the left or right or the middle
