Summer of '69, I remember it well... saw the Jefferson Airplane and the Who in concert one night...but got grounded for smoking pot, and missed Woodstock...probably for the best as I was just 16.
After being in the forecast for over a week I finally had the pleasure of hearing some needed rain on my metal roof all night. Too bad my hot summer temps of the 80's have left me, low 70's is the warmest forecast.
I miss the sound of rain on a metal roof. Lived in a small shack in Northern Florida and heard it often. A soothing sound.
Today in Mauritius is very lovely! However, today in La Paz we seem to have no water, unlike the tropical paradise above... This is La Paz today... Long lines to get some bottled water! I have one left myself... just heard the water truck going round my neighborhood... now I must go out there and stand in the sun to get him to stop here!
........ Hey Guys. Things are getting really HOT and serious here in the UK over the next few days! National emergency as red extreme heat warning issued for first time across England Met Office forecasters say there is an 80% chance of temperatures surpassing the record 38.7C (101.7F) set at Cambridge University Botanic Garden on 25 July 2019. By Siba Jackson, news reporter Friday 15 July 2022 23:01, UK ...... A national emergency has been declared, with a red warning for extreme heat issued for the first time for England on Monday and Tuesday - when temperatures could hit an unprecedented 40C. Forecasters now say there is an 80% chance of the mercury topping the UK's record temperature of 38.7C (101.7F), set at Cambridge University Botanic Garden on 25 July 2019. There is a 50% chance of temperatures hitting 40C (104F) somewhere in the UK, the Met Office said. UK weather live updates: Temperatures set to soar by 10C This is likely to be along the A1 corridor north of London up to Lincolnshire, in areas including Peterborough, Grantham, Sandy, and Stevenage. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) raised its heat health warning to Level 4 - a "national emergency" - on Friday. Level 4 is reached when "a heatwave is so severe and/or prolonged that its effects extend outside the health and social care system". Mr Madge said hitting 40C would be a "historic" moment. "If we get to 40C, that's a very iconic threshold and shows that climate change is with us now," he said. "This is made much more likely because of climate change." Elsewhere, the existing amber warning has been extended to the rest of England, Wales, and parts of Scotland from Monday. England's chief medical officer, Chris Whitty, shared the signs of heat exhaustion on Twitter as he said "early intervention to cool people down and rehydrate them can be lifesaving". Extreme heat 'absolutely unprecedented' Met Office chief executive Penny Endersby described the extreme heat forecast as "absolutely unprecedented" and urged the public to take warnings seriously. "Our lifestyles and our infrastructure are not adapted to what is coming," she said. "Please treat the warnings we are putting out as seriously as you would a red or amber warning from us for wind or snow, and follow the advice."
LONDON: ........ Good morning Zen and all HIP weather watchers. Thank you for your kind words of concern for us here in the UK. We live in North Wales, and as you know Wifey and I are lucky enough to live right opposite the promenade here in Colwyn Bay. So temperatures forecast arn't going to be as hot as England and South Wales. As I do this post at 9.40am it is 18c and feels really lovely. Lolling on me swing hammock in a minute. I hope this doesn’t sound to morbid but according to former noted author Willa Cather – Death. “That is happiness; to be dissolved into something complete and great. When it comes to one, it comes as naturally as sleep.”
Good morning HipForums!!! Well, as if no water was a bit%$, the power went off at 8 pm,. just as we ate the last bite of dinner. Washing up in the dark with a flashlight was easy, did not open refrigerator. We were letting the house stay at 80 F inside to conserve power, so when it went off it quickly rose to about 86 F inside as it was still hot outdoors... Relief arrived at midnight, unexpectedly. I was resigned to sweltering all night - or going on the roof to be eaten alive by mosquitoes. Bang, zip, click, buzz, whistle, the house came alive and it was cool in an hour or so... and we did get some sleep. Now today I am off to search for water, wish me luck! Hope it gets cooler tomorrow... as we expect some rain which would be nice.
