Judge bails Trump out of special master plan that would have forced uncomfortable submissions in court | CNN Politics

    excerpt:

"Cannon referenced the characterization of the 200,000 pages in ordering the postponed deadlines. She also nixed the idea of the special master reviewing privilege assertions in tranches.

The judge additionally made clear that any motions from Trump to seek the return of property he contends was unlawfully seized would be considered on her docket. Dearie, had opened the door to that litigation happening before Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart, who approved the search warrant – a move that Trump opposed."

Texas court confirms the attorney general can’t unilaterally prosecute election cases

    excerpt:

"Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's last-ditch attempt to regain the power of his office to unilaterally prosecute election cases was rejected by the state’s highest criminal court Wednesday.

The Court of Criminal Appeals instead upheld its previous ruling that says that the attorney general must get permission from local county prosecutors to pursue cases on issues like voter fraud. Paxton had been fighting to overturn that ruling as the issue of prosecuting election fraud has become fraught in recent years. Paxton sought to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and has aggressively pursued individual cases of fraud, outraging some voting rights advocates who see the punishments as too harsh for people who made honest mistakes.

Last December, eight of the nine members on the all-GOP court struck down a law that previously allowed Paxton’s office to take on those cases without local consent. The court said the law violated the separation-of-powers clause in the Texas Constitution."

Even worse. Trump wants hurricane victims to throw him money.

Trump pleads for political donations from Mar-A-Lago - live

    excerpt:

"Speaking in a video on Wednesday from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, southern Florida, the former president pleaded for donations to his Save America PAC ahead of a fundraising deadline.

“We have a major fundraising deadline coming up and there’s never been a time like this,” said Mr Trump, who claimed America had “never been so disrespected” by the world.

“We have to change it, we have to bring our country back, we made America great and now never gonna have to make America great again so I say whatever you can do to help out, we have to meet the dealine”.

While he was speaking, residents of southern Florida were encountering unbelievable damage and unconfirmed death tolls after Ian came ashore on Wednesday as a near-Category 5 hurricane, with wind speeds of 155mph.

Mr Trump was widely condemned on social media for the appeal from Mar-a-Lago, which did not reportedly sustain any damage from Hurricane Ian.

“Hello. There’s a hurricane destroying your state. Perhaps, you could not beg for donations right now. What a classless, clueless, distasteful, self centered, tone deaf, absolute jerk!,” tweeted one Twitter user."

Mike Flynn is now saying states can declare war. Take a guess who he wants them to go to war against ... and on who's behalf?

DeSantis probably won't be flying and busing migrants to Biden's house for a while.

Biden, DeSantis strike ceasefire as catastrophic Hurricane Ian rocks Florida

    excerpt:

"Just a week ago, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a possible 2024 contender, trolled the country with the idea that he would fly migrants in Texas to Delaware near the home of President Biden. Biden, in a speech rallying congressional Democrats a few days earlier, derided the Republican governor’s migrant expulsions as “playing politics with humans, using them as props.”

Now the potential 2024 opponents are talking multiple times a day as they face the stunning devastation from Hurricane Ian, a deadly storm that left 2.5 million Floridians without power and inflicted damage that DeSantis described as “historic.”

“It’s my sense that the administration wants to help,” DeSantis said Wednesday evening in an interview with Sean Hannity, the Fox News host and erstwhile adviser to former President Donald Trump.

While not exactly shining with praise, the comment does hark back to calmer times more than a decade ago, when governors and presidents worked hand in hand during federal emergencies, regardless of their political affiliations."

    excerpt:

"DeSantis himself blasted federal aid for victims of Hurricane Sandy, voting against $9.7 billion in federal relief in 2013, shortly after taking office as a freshman congressman. “I sympathize with the victims of Hurricane Sandy and believe that those who purchased flood insurance should have their claims paid,” he said at the time. “At the same time, allowing the program to increase its debt by another $9.7 billion with no plan to offset the spending with cuts elsewhere is not fiscally responsible.”"

    excerpt:

"But in the hypercharged Trump era, marked by a rise in political violence and punctuated by the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, even the formerly sacrosanct act of responding to a major national emergency has been politicized.

Trump himself routinely threatened Democratic state and local leaders handling disasters. Shortly before the 2020 election, he initially rejected, then later approved federal disaster relief for California, led by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, after crippling wildfires tore through the state. Trump issued a similar threat to California a year earlier as well."

In California he told victims of forest fires to use a rake and clear brush between the trees. In Florida him and Desenseless can tell their Republican homeowners to borrow paper towels from Puerto Rican friends.

Trump begs for donations from Mar-a-Lago as Hurricane Ian wreaks destruction across Florida

    excerpt:

"US President Joe Biden has announced a major disaster declaration for the affected areas and Florida governor Ron DeSantis has warned of further damage from the “500 year flood event” as Ian passed through central and eastern Florida on Thursday with warnings of life threatening flooding and strong winds.

Facing multiple criminal investigations and lawsuits, Mr Trump was found to have raised as little as $40 in August while his personal wealth was last week estimated at $3.2bn – placing him once more on the Forbes top 400 rich list."

I think Biden should deny the Florida Republicans any America help. When Colorado and California residents lose homes due to wildfires, the Florida Republicans always say: You should build somewhere else. We don't want to pay more taxes to help your liberal asses. We don't want to pay more in homeowner insurance just because you decided to live in the mountains. And the old Republican standby has always been, "pull yourself up with your own bootstraps!" Well Republicans and Trump worshipers, build your next home somewhere other than Florida. Pay your own homeowner insurance, and don't ask me for cash. Just pull yourself up by your own damn bootstraps. This is America and we have no free lunch for entitled Republicans!

I dunno, yeah, it's a sad sad tragedy, but I, for one, am pretty sick of rebuilding wealthy folks beach front homes only to get knocked out again and again. And the thousands of cars - why wouldn't you at least move your car inland to a parking lot? Every single one will be totaled, there's no recovering from salt water. Same thing happens here on the NC coast, year after year. That highway to Cape Hatteras has been rebuilt a dozen times now.

A low-level 2-year Federal Judge treating a senior U.S. District Judge like she did is a disgrace.

Maybe it's time the insurance industry said no - it's like why do we build wood framed building on the shore? Oh and the biggie - why do they use blow away asphalt shingles - you drive up and down the beach, every damn house has some blown off all the time.

Time for an official complaint to the Supra ... even though they are Trump appointees. She should be removed from the bench. The good thing is if her rulings are for Trump, he can not appeal the issues after conviction. And that is still coming down the pike. He took government documents and has made misrepresentations to the court. Cannon can not help him there.
