that is why most transit systems now have an alerter beeper that driver has to punch in their pin code when it goes off,
otherwise the breaks are applied and engine shuts down after a few seconds and has to be reset to restart.
this is on buses as well as light rail/trolleys. in the town where i live even the older buses have been retrofitted with this system.

also reduces the chance of a stray homeless person attempting to drive off with one.
as happened in portland oregon, i guess it was about 35 years ago, before they had this system.
i'm only guessing that most places have it. that would be logical. but then humans and logic, maybe i'm not so sure.

I slept in a closet in my dad’s office building once.

  6. I slept on top of a lunch table in a metal shop during a blizzard. We slept up off the floor because there were rats.

In an armchair, cuddling a bottle of drugs to prevent another person from taking them and overdosing on a cocktail of medicines which would have killed them.

Well, I worked roofing from age 27 until about 73 --74, so you know I had occasion to sleep on a few. :D

On a sunken barge in a mosquito-infested lagoon, swinging from a hammock above the rising tides, and to avoid things that might be swimming down there...it was that or sleep on the beach. Sand fleas are quite lively after dark.

Ketama in the Rif Mountains at the home of our guide, who turned out to be a heroin addict. He went through my stuff while sleeping, I woke to him playing with my Swiss Army Knife. I was smart enough to keep passport and money on myself, not left out or in a bag.

The back step of a fire engine. Rotated out for rehab. And well I just kind of fell asleep. What can I say ? That was years ago though

Were you fighting a wildland fire? I worked the Yellowstone Fires in 1988, and spent 42 days in firecamp. Slept in my VW camper van parked at the firecamp by the PIO, where I was the Information Officer.

I guess that was also a strange place to sleep :)
