ISSUED: 8:58 AM DEC. 22, 2022 – NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE
...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING
TO 5 PM EST FRIDAY...
...WIND CHILL WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM FRIDAY TO 4 AM
EST SATURDAY...

* WHAT...For the Winter Storm Warning, combination of snow,
blowing snow, and wind expected. Total snow accumulations of 2
to 4 inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph. For the Wind Chill
Warning, dangerously cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as
low as 35 below zero.

* WHERE...Portions of East Central Indiana and West Central Ohio.

* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, from 7 PM this evening to
5 PM EST Friday. For the Wind Chill Warning, from 1 AM Friday
to 4 AM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing
snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous
conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty
winds could bring down tree branches. The dangerously cold
wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little
as 10 minutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Temperatures will drop sharply in the
matter of a few hours during Thursday night, rapidly falling
well below freezing, leading to the potential for a flash
freeze. This will cause travel conditions to rapidly
deteriorate.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Avoid outside activities if possible. When outside, make sure you
wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.

 

While winter has indeed descended upon our Northern climes, for the second storm in a row we’re looking at rain, not snow. followed by a flash-freeze which will send wind chills below zero.

There was a similar storm here many years ago with 2-3 inches of rain in December followed by a flash freeze, with one small difference, there was already two feet of snow on the ground.

HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST SATURDAY.

WHAT...South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. Isolated gusts up to 65 mph this morning along the coast.
WHERE...Portions of eastern, northeastern and southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Saturday.
IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Now, that's funny...I tellya, the winds are rolling through here, haven't seen 29.3 on the barometer in a while.

 

COASTAL FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON..

WHAT...One to three feet of inundation above ground level in low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways (4.0 to 13.6 feet Mean Lower Low Water).
WHERE...Eastern Essex MA, Suffolk MA, Eastern Norfolk MA, Eastern Plymouth MA, Barnstable MA and Nantucket MA Counties.
WHEN...Until 2 PM EST this afternoon.
IMPACTS...Minor to moderate flooding of low-lying coastal locations is expected from Revere and Winthrop southward through Hull. The combination of high tides and large swells will result in washover onto coastal roadways and some road closures may occur around the time of high tide. Coastal flooding is expected along the North Shore from Marblehead northward along the coast to Newburyport.

The flooding seems to keep getting worse with every passing year, and yet billions of dollars in new real estate keep getting pumped into the most vulnerable parts of the city including the waterfront area and the seaport district - it doesn’t seem to make any sense.

It’s a catastrophe just waiting to happen, I’m not sure if it's simple arrogance or just the knowledge that it will take another 25-30 years before it’s realized

I now spend a t least a coupla hours ranting about all this but like all this sort of thing I would just be wasting my time pissing in the wind regarding getting action from the Government Bastards!
