The U.S. doesn't need to import terrorists. Trump's home-grown insurrectionists fill that role.

In the context of a presidential general election, DeSantis, if he chooses to run, could have an advantage in 2024 of having mega-donors and mega-media outlets like Fox on his side who have ditched Trump. But in the context of the state and local level, someone like Trump may have an advantage in the GOP primary with its winner-take-all delegate system. Trump could potentially easily win the nomination and short-circuit someone like DeSantis who otherwise would have been successful.

Slapstick maneuvers by the GOP-controlled House that throw dog bones to the GOP fringe and try to stick it to the Democrats.

Trump has stayed relatively quiet on the abortion issue. An exception is his blaming of the anti-abortion groups (who got what they wanted from his three conservative Supreme Court nominations) for supposedly being responsible for the lackluster performance of the GOP in the 2022 midterm elections (which many have attributed to Trump's endorsements of low-quality, fringe candidates who supported his stolen election narratives).

The remarks by Trump blaming the religious right for GOP 2022 midterm failures is puzzling.

Trump set the stage for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade. Now he seems frustrated that it may have had a backlash that caused moderates and women to not want to support GOP candidates in the midterm elections.

When Roe v. Wade was overturned, Trump was quiet. He could have championed it and praised the religious right. Instead, he later blamed them for dismal GOP performance in the midterms.

In the context of his Supreme Court nominations, he damaged himself by snubbing both the religious right who got what they wanted and moderates who didn't get what they wanted.

Trump made a wishy-washy statement about the overturning of Roe v. Wade by saying that he thinks everything will work out well for everyone eventually.
