I would have thought that he would have been provided an executive summary as a read-ahead by his staff, prior to attending these significant events. And not necessarily to insult a president’s intelligence, but, for the sake of “refreshing” historical knowledge, and to be somewhat relevant during conversations and speeches.
Trump's speech writers are as cluesless as Trump. During his 2019 4th of July speech, Trump talked about airports during the Reovolutionar War and the ramming the ramparts. He also mistakenly talked like the National Anthem was written during the Revolutionary War. The Redcoats Are in a Holding Pattern Over La Guardia (Published 2019) .
Other examples of his speech blunders include the one to the Boy Scouts and the one in front of the wall memorializing CIA agents who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Trump sounded sheepish when he was asked if he showed the classified documents at Mar-a-Lago to anyone. He usually answers such a question with a bold, absolute proclamation. Typical of Trump. He thinks he can make a deal with someone that will allow him to skirt the law. He accused the National Archives of being leftist.
During the CNN town hall, Trump was still denying that Miller said he never received an order from Trump for 10,000 troops at the Capitol.
