It means Trump won't be able to easily make appeals to the Supreme Court like he could have in a federal case. Trump appointed three of the members on the Supreme Court. It precludes Trump from pardoning himself or having another president pardon him. It also removes a shell of potential security that Trump could have tried to invoke related to presidential privileges.
