Kinzinger points out the hypocrisy of Jim Jordan who defied subpoenas from Congress for his involvement with Trump in the days surrounding the Capitol riot, yet who is now talking about the 'sanctity of the subpoena' and contempt charges against Hunter Biden for not complying with a subpoena for a closed-door interview (Hunter said he would agree to an open-door interview). Kinzinger blasts Jordan over contempt of Congress threat on Hunter Biden: ‘Absolute hypocrite’ | The Hill excerpt: "Kinzinger bashed Jordan for attempting to hold Biden in contempt — and for previously defending former President Trump during his impeachment inquiries by saying that the Department of Justice or the FBI should be the ones to investigate."
Jim Jordan, Who Defied Subpoena, Threatens Hunter With Contempt excerpt: "Described by the Jan. 6 committee as being a “significant player” in Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results, Jordan outright refused to cooperate with the committee about his knowledge of Trump’s role in the Capitol insurrection. In the end, after defying subpoenas to appear for depositions before the committee, Jordan was referred to the House ethics committee."

At Iowa rally, Trump says he thinks he's in better physical shape than Obama. Trump: “He was Obama’s doctor, too, by the way. I said, ‘Who’s healthier?’ He said, ‘Sir, there’s no contest.’ I won’t tell you the answer, but you know the answer, OK? It was me.”
Trump immunity request puts Supreme Court in crosshairs | The Hill excerpt: “If appellate review of the decision below were to proceed through the ordinary process in the court of appeals, the pace of review may not result in a final decision for many months; even if the decision arrives sooner, the timing of such a decision might prevent this Court from hearing and deciding the case this Term,” prosecutors wrote in their request. Agreeing to take up the request this term would mean the Supreme Court resolves the immunity issue by the end of June. Smith’s request further asks the justices to resolve the case even sooner. Such a timeline would ruin Trump’s desire to delay his trial until after the 2024 election, a strategy that could end with Trump returning to the White House and potenitally pardon himself or directing his Justice Department to shut down the prosecution."

Trump's co-defendant in the GA case, Eastman. lost his appeal to the Supreme Court in October 2023. It was a rare instance where Judge Clarence Thomas recused himself. She also sent similar messages to Mark Meadows who is also a co-defendant of Trump in the GA case. Supreme Court denies Eastman petition, with rare recusal from Thomas | The Hill
Giuliani still maintains that what he said about Ruby Freeman and her daughter is factual. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-67717039 excerpt: "The judge in Ms Freeman's case has forbidden him from arguing the debunked election fraud claims in court. Outside the court, however, he has continued to claim that the baseless allegations he said about Ms Moss and Ms Freeman were true. "When I testify, you'll get the whole story and it will be definitively clear what I said was true and that whatever happened to them, which was unfortunate if other people overreacted, but everything I said about them is true," he said on Monday. "Of course I don't regret it, I told the truth.""
In 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against Trump when he claimed, while still president, that he had absolute immunity from subpoenas for a criminal investigation of him. This time Trump's not even president and claiming that he has absolute immunity from not only subpoenas but from criminal prosecution of him in general for behavior he exhibited when he was president. He wants a protection that he mistakenly thought he had while president (one that the Supreme Court rejected in 2020) to extend indefinitely after his presidency to protect him from anything he did while president.. The fact that it's such an unreasonable claim and one that will end up in the Supreme Court anyway gives impetus to the SC to take up the case directly and bypass a lengthy DC appeals court process.
Moreover, his behavior during his presidency that spawned the criminal charges can be considered campaigning behavior which is outside the scope of the official duties of a president. Trump lost in the appeals court for a similar claim that his behavior toward Carroll was within the scope of his official duties as president (defaming and raping a woman) and therefore he was immune from prosecution, both civil and criminal. https://www.cnbc.com/2023/12/13/tru...mmunity-challenge-to-e-jean-carroll-case.html excerpt: "A federal appeals court on Wednesday rejected arguments by Donald Trump that presidential immunity protected him from being sued for defamation by the writer E. Jean Carroll. The ruling is the latest judicial rejection of claims by Trump that he is protected from either civil or criminal liability because he was president. It comes days after Department of Justice special counsel Jack Smith asked the Supreme Court to fast-track Trump's appeal of a Washington, D.C., federal judge's recent ruling that he does not have presidential immunity from criminal charges related to his attempt to reverse his loss in the 2020 presidential election."
