Trump seems like a person I would not like if I got to actually know him.
The people who absolutely hate him and hate his political platform, however, make me give him some benefit of doubt. It’s a kind of “knowing him by his enemies.” If these are the kind of people who hate him, then there MUST be something good in there somewhere.

Neo-con and neo-liberal war-mongers. International corporatists and financiers. Various “social engineers” who wish to dissolve the family structure and convince my kids that they should sterilize themselves or self-select out of the gene pool some other way. The open borders crowd. The “free trade” crowd: that’s just a race to the bottom and loss of local production until we’re all living in third world conditions.

Well, who specifically and how do their views on Trump and other worldly matters make you think Trump must be good?
Do you think Trump is anti capitalist or anti international business wise when many of the items he has for sale are made over seas including Trump shirts, suits, eyeglasses, cuff links, mirrors, ceramic vases, wall decorations, kitchen articles, lighting fixtures, picture frames, pens, shampoo, body wash, moisturizers, shower caps, laundry bags, show bags, pet collars, pet leashes, bath towels, and vodka?

And how about his relations with Chinese business and trade marks?

Then we can look at his "family values". Do I need to go into his rape conviction, accusation of sexual misconduct by 26 other women, porn star fling and subsequent hush money payment while his wife was pregnant.
Do you not support gay people or those with gender dysphoria? Are you saying you are homophobic like Trump or do you have some specific problem with gender dysphoria?
What are you talking about in regards to children choosing self sterilization?

    What open border crowd?
Seems Biden and the Democrats are all for solving the border problem and so were the Republicans with Mitch McConnell’s immigration and foreign aid bill until they were pressured to kill the bipartisan deal to secure the U.S. border...... because......Trump doesn’t want Joe Biden to solve the problem. Pure politics.

Free trade? Didn't Hilary Clinton ax the Trans-Pacific Partnership with China?
Doesn't Biden's Inflation Reduction Act include “Buy American” provisions?
Hasn't Biden continued Trump's continued protectionist line?
Hasn't Biden pledged to "reinvigorate U.S. manufacturing"?

How does all of this cause you to see "good" in Trump.

It's soooooo exhausting reading right wingers.!!:( I have always felt that the border should be controlled in a better manner, though. People should be able to come here and apply for citizenship--but in an orderly manner. What's the limit? 10,000? A million? 20 million? 100 million? There needs to be some reasonable limit .

Sure, but with an election coming up Trump doesn't want to solve the problem.
Much easier to get votes from the bottom of the barrel by scaring them.

    Don’t know that I can put as much effort and verbiage into my response as you folks but here’s a couple of items;

I don’t care what Putin does in Eurasia. Furthermore, we made a deal during/after the fall of the USSR to not expand NATO into the old Warsaw pact. We have since reneged on that deal. We caused this. Not them. We are the baddies here. Don’t believe me: look it up for yourself.

As for the litany of faults you folks find in trump: I don’t know nor do I care if they are true. He might get off on sacrificing kittens to satan and smearing their blood on various holy books. I don’t care.

The people who want to start wars everywhere to “make the world safe for democracy”, offshore jobs, tax me beyond what any serf ever had to give to his master, trannify my kids, price me out of owning a home, change the definition of words to call an experimental gene “therapy” a vaccine and then force it on me, disarm me while specifically choosing to not detain/deter violent criminals, tell me and my children that we’re EVIL for not having sufficient melanin or the wrong genitals or failing to be attracted to the same sex; they ALL seem to hate trump. This makes me suspect that maybe he’s not so bad.

I’m not a right winger. I’m just anti-Orwellian. I’ve lived long enough and have a good enough memory to have noticed them changing the definitions of words and rewriting history to be the opposite of what it was. I no longer believe the narrative. Left or right is irrelevant.

" this makes me suspect that he's not so bad." True. He's a considerate , intelligent , honest, empathetic gentleman that deserves every accolade accorded him. All and all, a fine human being:sunglasses:

So you don't care if a democracy gets invaded by a foreign country.
Good thing people like you weren't in the majority when my father served to fight Hitler.

There is not, nor has there ever been a legal agreement prohibiting NATO from expanding eastward.
Candace Owens, who is pushing this B.S., is just mouthing Putin's erroneous claims. She thinks we're the "baddies" and Putin is just fine.
She also promoted Putin's claim that Russia created Ukraine, she thinks abortion is legal for the extermination of black babies, she thinks antifascists (people who don't like other people like Hitler and Mussolini, such as, oh Eisenhower, Patton, Churchill, etc.) are a bigger danger than the KKK, she thinks the KKK is a Democratic organization, global warming isn't real, she's an anti vaxxer, thinks the Moon landings were faked, etc. etc.
Sounds like where a lot of your ideas come from.
Typical. You don't care if a rapist becomes president. You don't care about the truth. Okay.
More babble. But since you don't care about the truth there's no use talking to you at all...is there?

People love to titilate themselves with fear. . . saying that he is coarse and crude is not enough. He is a threat to Our Democracy above and beyond the threats we face from current government and thugs in the streets.

I don’t watch video media for news nor do I listen to podcasts. I read printed words, preferably on paper, preferably in books, and the older the better so the story hasn’t been retold to suit various authors’ objectives. What modern news I do get actually does come from npr during my daily commute to and from work. Being literate and having over 50 years of life experience, I’m well aware of their implicit and explicit biases. I still listen to just stay barely abreast of current news a nothing more.

Much of what you stated in the above quoted post is based on false premises. I will not bother to address them because it is pointless to do so.
Your ardency has made me come to suspect that if “your side” told you water is dry, I could hold your hand in a bucket of it and you would not believe otherwise.

I have no side. I believe my own experience and what I can determine from as close to primary sources as I can get. Furthermore, as I alluded to earlier, I suffer from the same affliction as Winston Smith: I have a memory. I can recall how things used to be, concepts and history used to be understood, and what was considered proof vs rhetoric.

“A threat to democracy.” Amazing what can be justified to protect democracy. I notice the in-unison label of “a threat to democracy” only became a thing after it became apparent that the label of “literally Hitler” was losing its effect. Too bad really. It was a brief glimpse of linguistic shift happening. “Literally Hitler” was going from the most feared insult, and was well on its way to “Cool watch you have there, bro. That’s literally Hitler.”
